Execution. They’re not executing well.
Am I the only one who has had faultless performance, and incredible customer service and support?
Perhaps I’m the only one patient enough to wait for the second round of product delivery!

I’d say my experience so far with the Core One L has been reasonable performance.
Things I fault it for are repeated loss of communications between controller and other subsystems and also intermittency in the filament sensor system.
I haven’t engaged customer support yet as I’ve been able in each case to resolve the issue- but as good as the printer is and as much as I like it, I would not rate it as flawless.
Mine does have new subsystems compared to the Core One, like the AC heated bed.
Edit- that’s a hair on the display, not a crack.
Edit2- My firmware was updated to 6.5.3 after release, so far that hasn’t happened again. I’d get it about once a month before.
They haven’t formally announced a date for INDX on Core One L, so I have no impatience with that. They have now yet again blown a date for the INDX on Core One, which they have had issues with in other launches in the past.
That’s still poor execution.

Remember they are non-native speakers. I am pretty sure it sounds more harsh than what he wants to say with it.
„The INDX is manufactured by Bondtech and we are only available to supply Prusa with the INDX after the Founder‘s Edition has been shipped.“

Very possible.
I think it means exactly what it says- and that would explain some of that weird tension I felt the last few months trying to talk to the two companies’ reps in person.
Bondtech have a problem, they’re going to fix it (that part is good), and they are going to let commercial customers sit until they’ve filled orders for their own first wave buyers.
That’s not terrible from the perspective of their individual retail customers- the founders edition buyers.
It’s very much not great for their corporate OEM customers/partners.
It would seem this isn’t “We forgot to put two screws on our BOM and need to re-pack a bunch of kits.” It feels more like “Oops, 4th generation INDX needs to become 4.1 generation INDX before we ship it.” Hopefully not needing a 5th generation iteration.
Edit- and hopefully it isn’t a situation like “Prusa needs to significantly change and release firmware and slicer updates before we’ll ship our initial kits, but we’re going to withold any shipments to them until we send out our Founders’ edition orders”

Though Prusa hasn’t delivered on the Slicer yet either. It should have been there with the kits, so at the end of April, but it was delayed as well. Maybe both parties aren’t ready yet.
That’s also how it was communicated by Prusa, so that seems to be the agreement anyway. The Founder’s edition buyers put a lot of money down for a project that wasn’t done at that time and took a (minor, to be granted) risk with it.
A lot of projects lead to tension between the parties, with such a big project I can see that happening easily, but it just might not be that bad internally, just a little tense at the moment because both companies have a lot riding on it I guess.

Just speculation. I know the slicer has been ready ( and in beta) for a very long time. What if the mechanical issue needs a software fix? Messy!
Will Prusa slicer remain Open, or is the catalyst to protect the broader colour change IP?

I hope not. The slicer should be open because of its basis anyway and I don’t think Prusa is willing to break the law in this regard. They’d need to completely recode everything to close it off. On the other hand, I would not want to give Bambu my secrets about INDX…
That’s what I’m getting at. BL are presently taking action against a fork of Orca! (Not the main version) next thing you know they’ll be taking on Stratasys!

OK, I visited Aus Manufacturing Week Exhibition in Brisbane yesterday. Sadly my 50c bus fare takes three hours each way from home - it’s great value but doesn’t leave a lot of time in the middle to relax and take stuff in. Some very cool machinery and other stuff there but since this is a CoreOne thread -
The INDX was printing on the dirtiest print bed I’ve ever seen (satin) and it was without sign of detachment. I was there early, the printer came out of the box (used) no checks, load the filament and the eight colour file and press “print”. A bit like my machine really.
There was a lot of ambient noise at the show, but the machine was so smooth and quiet it convinced me that I really must take mine apart and check all the vibrating bits.
I compared XL and C1L - and I know the XL is due for a refresh, but I am pretty sure the C1L is the sweet spot for me. I spoke with a bloke who is seriously working on an epoxy head concept for the XL which will enable potting of electronics and other assembly stuff, which may or may not be super cool.
Sadly no news on when INDX, but the expectation is that it will be this year, so reading between the lines the C1 INDX sorting is expected “soon” and PrusaSlicer will release with it. Demo was done with a development version of the Slicer- so didn’t get to see the real thing.
All that aside the proHT90 is a beast. Those who think Prusa’s pricing is out of whack with reality should try to buy an equivalent!

Looks as though I am going to miss my shipping window this year! I didn’t order in November, because I didn’t think it would arrive before our departure date (in a few days time).
I would normally order in July or August to receive in October - but I’m thinking the L+INDX queue will be far longer than I want it to be…

/edit: exchanged the version, the other version had a connection to Anthropic in the back for the cache (which didn’t work). This one is now completely “standalone”. It writes the Database into your cache though!
Extract, run and have fun. It’s HTML that scans the Database on Open Print Tag (GitHub - OpenPrintTag/openprinttag-database · GitHub) and gives you an overview of the colours that are available from which manufacturer as well as where you can buy it etc. Basically it’s just a GUI of the GitHub and really interesting if you want to get into colour mixing later on.

Regarding the INDX:
Founders update.
Shipping will start June 25.
We know the wait has been longer than any of us wanted.
We’ve said that before and we mean it. But we didn’t spend the time standing still; macros and firmware are in considerably better shape, we’ve fixed a heatcreep issue affecting low temp materials in elevated ambient temperatures, documentation is solid, and we’ve added accessories that weren’t in the original plan.The result is a better product in your hands.
I specially like that one - since “elevated” is anything over about 20°, and low temp materials are PLA.

Yeah, can’t write: it would have sucked with PLA - that you all print with - so we had to fix it.
