I just go my MPCNC up and running in the last few days. Everything seemed to be in order so a ran the Crown test.
I’ve run it several times now with the same results; it keeps coming out a bit crooked. The left side of the image is a bit off.
I started off by creating my own gcode in Estlcam and running it off an SD card on the LCD. I then tried using Repetier-host with my gcode and then finally Ryan’s Crown gcode from the SD.
All 3dp parts, hardware and electronics are from the V1 store. I’ve resquared the gantry and and rails and while it seems a little better than the initial tests, the problems persist. Below are some pictures of my build and and the most recent Crown that I’ve run.
Your zip ties might need some bending 90 degrees or tightening a bit more, it may be just a little loose once you start using it and over time need tightening again. You can also raise the gantry and move the pen holder one more screw lower so the gantry is more rigid the higher it is. You may also have too much pressure on the pen itself so try having it mark lighter for less resistance or use a ball point pen, something that glides to verify.
So, made a different test pattern to get an idea what was going on. As you can see in the first couple of photos, circles were coming out distorted.
On a whim, I tried running a simpler version of the same pattern that would run faster on a different portion of the bed. That one came out way better. So did the others that ran in different spots.
The short story is that it seems to have fixed itself. While I did implement the changes you mentioned, they had limited impact initially. So ultimately your advice of running it more to let it break in seems to have been the best.
