After printing my first truck I noticed an area where there was no coverage. Looking back in Cura I can see where the issue is (see screenshot). I’m curious if this is common/ok and what slicer others are using (if you’re not getting it). thx!
My settings:
nozzle 0.6
layer height 0.2
infill 45% gyroid
Switched back to a 0.4mm nozzle (which Cura can slice properly) and the problem area was printed.
Unfortunately, the part I printed with 0.4mm nozzle does not feel as robust as the result from 0.6mm nozzle, and in fact while messing with it I must have been to aggressive and I cracked the outer lip… messing with the 0.6mm printed part I can’t crack it (same level of force). Perhaps my machine is no longer optimized for a 0.4mm nozzle?
Thinking some more… I’m assuming this half circle cut-out is for tool access, and if so perhaps a captured nut would work better here? and avoid this cut-out altogether. @Ryan curious on your thoughts and if something like this might work I’d be willing to test it out
Those are thin sections, they will come and go with different advanced slicer settings. I figure if I can print them with a 0.5mm nozzle, a 0.4 will easily work.
Captured nuts are an option, when these were designed people had a huge issue with them. I think that attitude is changing. So maybe an update could happen at some point.
