This is probably a stupid question but I can’t find build instructions for the primo would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
Thank You Tom
Start here:
https://docs.v1engineering.com/mpcnc/intro/
Ya I a saw that page it doesn’t have the build instructions I was looking for a step by step build instructions like the ones they had for the lowrider2 that shows what piece and what size bolt goes with it. Thanks for your help
If you’ve already gone through the calculator and the other preliminaries, you can start with “1 - Table”, and just go through the list.
This is one of those situations where it would have been useful to poke around the link given (maybe actually read the content), rather than looking at the page you were linked to, and immediately asking for more direction when what you wanted wasn’t spoon-fed to you.
https://docs.v1engineering.com/mpcnc/Pbase/
Same location as before, its just a little ways down.
I did read the content clicked almost all the links missed the tab at the very bottom of the page. And not that it is any of your business but my mom had a seizure while I was looking the first time so I got distracted. So before you just want to assume someone is lazy because they missed something maybe think that they might have other stuff going on .
Cobalt thank you for your help i missed the link on the very bottom of the page. Thanks again for help
Sorry to hear about your mother, I sincerely hope she is alright.
It sounds like you’re on your phone, which does make navigation a little more tricky, and not nearly as obvious as the desktop layout.
I’m also sorry I came off as being snide, or patronizing. That was not my intent. Correction, that was not my primary intent. I was having a bad afternoon, and sadly let myself take a little bit of it out on you for no good reason. I’m sorry for that, you didn’t deserve that. I’m glad Cobalt came along and gave you that link directly to the beginning of the assembly instructions.
I understand we all have bad days . And that link is hard to see on the phone but I found it and am on my way that is all that matters. Thanks for the help
This is always good feed back for me.
This is not meant to be rude in anyway, I am interested to hear where you think a good place for the build links are? I have been at this a while and a few redesigns later I find it a bit wonky myself. I am fully open to some constructive criticism or maybe a link to a similar type site that makes more sense.
This sort of stuff is kinda hard. We have basic info, several machines, lots of specific use cases, different hardware, parts lists… Seems like there must be a better way?
It seems to me that people are finding the docs, and this was a matter of labelling.
Instead of:
- Introduction to the MPCNC
- MPCNC Primo Parts List
- Calculator
-
- Table
-
- Base
-
- Trucks
…
- Trucks
Just adding another header
- Introduction to the MPCNC
- MPCNC Primo Parts List
- Calculator
- MPCNC Primo Assembly
-
- Table
-
- Base
-
- Trucks
…
- Trucks
Might go a long ways to clarifying the documentation.
But then, I tend to read everything I can find several times first, and then just put things together until something doesn’t make sense., so I’m usually an outlier when it comes to documentation.
This is my opinion I do want to say first that i think Ryan does an amazing job on this site and with customer service again this is just my opinion . What confused me a little on that page was it mostly looked like an add page of sorts talking about price and size How it is a DIY cnc machine. There is no mention of the actual build thread that I saw until you get to the very bottom and in small red letters it says build under the picture of the tool box then in black at the very bottom there is a link to a contents page. I think it would be easier if there was just a page titled Build instructions under the docs tab and have build instructions for all machines under the one tab. Just my opinion and I think Ryan does an amazing job on this site and with customer service has always been very helpful with any questions I may have had building my lowrider. This is an awesome community with very helpful people.
So mkdocs, the site software we use that is community editable…has limitations.
The two main ones. Headers…eg “MPCNC” can’t be a page. Second, you can only have 3 levels deep, we have already maxed that out Build-MPCNC-calc. The 4th level is the actual page.
The trade off is everyone can edit it, or even clone it.
I always opened the website on my computer, so the layout looks ok on there. There is a menu on the left side of the page to let you navigate around.
I pulled it up on my phone for the first time and the menu isn’t on the left. Its at the very bottom of the page, where people typically don’t look for menus. I can see how someone could easily miss that.
I’m not sure that’s accurate. I just cloned down the docs and was able to easily add in a 4th level. In fact, you’re already using a 4th level in places like Build-MPCNC-Previous Versions-Assembly-(page). Am I missing something?
Cool! 4 levels and a page. Thanks!
I do, but on a small phone screen it can be overlooked as a drop-down menu bar. Having used the website on my PC exclusively, I was used to the menu being right there on the left all the time.
