This is a joke, right? Or do you mean you’re just going to make it possible to use pan head screws but will actually use allen screws?
how knows…!!!..
I doubt that it’s a joke. Ryan is neigh on compulsive about using easily sourced hardware wherever possible. Recall that the Z-axis was threaded rod for a long time, until ACME lead screws became commodity parts.
I used metric hex socket screws for parts of mine, but mostly robertson screws or 5/16" bolts for the rest.
I think Ryan chooses Philips head as secret code for “Don’t over-tighten”. I want to use socket head cap screws, but I’d just over-tighten them.
I need this kind of help…my default mode is “Gutentite” or “Good’nTight” depending on your chosen language.
One of my friends says of me: “Who gorilla’d this on here?”
My motto is “Tighten it down until it strips, then back off 1/4 turn.”
“You don’t need nylocks if you cross thread it!”
Well that’s a good point about over tightening. I have a Husky Torque Screwdriver from Home Depot. Are we able to get torque specs?
Just enough but not to much sorry could resist but didn’t
I think that’s NTB’s method of making sure lugnuts don’t come off.
If it’s a nut and bolt, just hammer the end of the bolt a bit and the nut will never come off.
Hoping for some details on what’s changed for the center carriage. Is the conduit spacing for x to y changed, meaning all the corner pieces need to be reprinted as well? Or will it be possible to just change out the center carriage and leave the rest intact?
Pan heads have a significantly larger head surface area, no washer needed. You can use a cap head and washer if you really want to but the specs will say pan head.
9-10mm vs 7mm diameter.
It will, but I doubt you will want to do it that way.
There were some clearance issues with the large socket head screws on the burly version.
There are a lot of screw types, and making 99% of us have a wider table because 1% wants an easier time assembling it doesn’t make sense.
What makes more sense is saying, “These pan head screws are what I use. Beware, if you use something else, you are risking something not fitting. Use washers to make sure they have enough surface area”. Then later, “These bolts definitely can’t be socket cap screws”.
Most people enjoy building it and not many complain about the screws once they are making chips (that I’ve seen).
Talk about Voronoi - this was cut on my MPCNC - did four like it. Will be painted matte silver, and set up with glass shelves as a combo room divider/curio thing once the rest of the room is done. Could not have done it without the MPCNC.
WOWZERS!
Love the round over, really finishes it off!
So much waste though. You need a mdf printer instead.
Hmmm, multiple hoppers of “wood flour”, an auger bit, some sort of clear-drying glue that still accepts stain…
Or one of those tubes of 2-part Epoxy with the auto-mixing tip…
Come one now, have the stain be mixed in while printing.
