Sounds good. Thanks!
That is one sexy machine!
As soon as i am done renovating my new house (with a nice garage ^^) i am building one!
Any estimates from the beta testers/Ryan how many KG Pla this build requires?
Can’t wait for the 25mm version
Keep up the good work!
I think I heard around 2kg’s
Related to the Cut calculator…
I have no idea what dimensions of working area I need or want - but I do know the size of the table I’m using.
It is 60*80 Cm and I do not care how small or how large the working area will end up - but I do know that I mount the legs in the corners of the table so I feel it is kind of reversed order to determine working space and hope it fits a table?
(I had the exact same issues building my MPCNC so I cut pipes longer than needed)
Just realized I built the 23.5 conduit version. Looking at 1OD stainless, but what wall thickness is tried and true
.065 inch, or a touch thicker won’t hurt, try not to go thinner. You can also get 1" dom tube at rural king in the welding section.
Ordered, time to start printing!
Lol, just when I finished printing the parts for the Burly.
I hadn’t even ordered the nuts n bolts, but I see an upgrade option, is there a full list for a new build? Or have I completely missed it?!
The full list is just above it (MPCNC Primo Parts list - V1 Engineering Documentation).
I had everything for the Burly ready, at least I can use the washers again and just need 1 more.
@vicious1I checked out the upgrade kit, the price is unbeatable, I’d pay ~50$ for what I need, but shipping is ~72$, so that’s not an option for me.
Is there another option to support you for this neat design? I’d even do it before the 25mm version comes out.
Thanks so much for the cool design.
This seems like a pretty reasonable price for steel tube. Am I crazy? Is this good?

Ryan mentioned car wax to limit rust. What about the inside?
I just want to make sure I’m correct. DOM tubing is the same stuff they carry at TSC or Home Depot or Lowes in their mild steel section? It all looks like its from the same supplier as Rural King. National Hardware 4068BC, 16 gauge 1 inch round tubing.
A year ago I got some 1" x 0.120 from Metal Supermarket and it was pretty economical.
I think “HTR/1120” might be hot rolled but it was pretty smooth and not covered with scale as far as i could tell (not an expert).
I did no treatment at all and after a year, this is what it looks like now:
This is in a garage in north Texas, so it’s not Louisiana but it’s also not Arizona. Seems ok.
I am doing 4 perimeters and 50% infill at 0.2 layer height. More-or-less what I did for Burly.
Maybe @vicious1 will have time to post the recommended for each part, but starting with Burly #'s would be a safe bet I think.
The infill recommendation is on the link where you download the files.
I ‘think’ DOM is the same stuff Home Depot carries. Or at least I’m hoping so. I’m leaning towards building a whole new machine with a better enclosure than the last one. I have things about the current enclosure I don’t like.
In the calculator, the table size is the outside of the feet. The machine hangs out over the outside of the feet, so if you want to push the table against the wall, then use the total machine footprint instead.
The calculator only goes one way, but it updates immediately, and you can just change the work are until you get it where you want it, then write down those numbers and come back anytime to see the dims again. It isn’t as perfect for you, but it made the code a little simpler (less chance for errors) and it made the interface a little less surprising.
I’m guessing there is something up with the amazon link. Amazon likes to replace those with whatever options they think are the same.
. @vicious1 will have to fix it though, I don’t know for sure.
It will take decades to rust the inside enough for you to care.
In decades we’ll be printing the hardware and electronics too so version 10 will be a Completely Printed CNC. Ryan, you may want to get started on that now.
Yeah, this is what still sucks. If you’d rather pay Ryan than the post office/import tax, then you need to self source, and you can donate some money for his design time. I bet he would appreciate that more, just because he doesn’t have to count parts that way.
I keep thinking it would help for someone to make a country specific BOM, and include a line item for a tip, with a link to the donate. The trouble is, those can get out of date quickly.
Was that always there? Maybe in my excitement to download and start printing, I missed them.
(Also just to be clear for others that use a link to thingiverse directly and don’t go to the main page, they are on MPCNC Primo Parts list - V1 Engineering Documentation)
