New MPCNC for 2020! - Primo -

My Burly was assembled from printed pieces sourced from Ryan and they’re that color combination, I like it a lot! IMO makes it look like the well thought out machine it is. Perhaps in support of the V1 logo a little red somewhere in the mix wouldn’t be out of place?

That looks clean. Is it weird that I keep staring at the aluminum frame?

Yes, since it’s not aluminum lol

It is aluminum, it’s my portable build!

edit- table frame is aluminum…not the rails.

Your legs are higher than the minimum, are they? Or are the parts smaller in 23.5 so that a part of the legs sticks out?

This machine will never see machining so I used the parts I had on hand from previous builds. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

He keeps his motors clean. It’s a clean machine.

I was about to open some fresh steppers, but I found these still on some of the parts in the “memory” box of old parts.

So part tree hugger, part cheapskate!

I do hope it does not turn out to be a “fire engine” :slightly_smiling_face:

You should put some stepper covers on them to help keep them clean

Compared to the new Primo version How much is the hardware needed is different from the original? Is it just the 3d printed parts? I ask because I bought it 6 month ago and didn’t started yet and wanted to know if it still possible to buildit with the updated Primo version?

The easiest way to see the difference is to look at the part list in Ryan’s upgrade package: https://shop.v1engineering.com/collections/parts/products/mpcnc-burly-to-primo-hardware-kit. …primarily different sized bolts and screws, larger pulleys, and some idlers.

What kind of tolerance do we have to work with for polishing our emt? If I take .005 off am I still good?

I love those covers. @wellthad said you designed them. Do you have an stl for those? I’d love to print them as well.

I really doubt it’ll matter. If so, tightening the bolts a tad would certainly compensate.

Well, low-mileage pre-owned steppers may be a sensible choice, but there is nothing like that brand new stepper smell.

Thanks so much. I always forget that most things can be found on Thingiverse… -_-
