New MPCNC for 2020! - Primo -

Helix. You can plunge (straight in). Or ramp (lower the z while moving in a straight line). Or zig zag (lower the z going back and forth in a line). These are just entries, though.
The rest of the path can be other strategies. I think the first path in that video trochoidal (fusion calls it Adaptive) and it finishes with a profile cut (fusion would call it contour).
It seems like naming also depends on the software manufacturers…

Thanks

Dang, 8 hours too slow to be the first order for printed parts.

So, are there chances for the 25mm version because you start selling 25.4 kits? I can’t decide the Primo and the LowRider yet. Materials would be plywood, acrylic to use with the cnc.

Tehnical question
Idller puley is 20toothles, on amazon I see that inned diameter where belt runs is 12.1mm diameter.
I can get here at the moment puley with 13mm diameter where belt runs.
I presume this is ok?

@niget2002

Lessons I learnt from building the Burley MPCNC are:

  1. You need more wire than you think.
  2. Having it all in a single sleeve cuts down issues.
  3. Remove as many of the connectors as possible.
  4. Solder wires together with the correct heat shrink tubing over each wire.
  5. Wire as late as possible so you wire the right lengths. This also means you can choose the routing you want based on your need, not how much wire you have.
  6. Have a proper wire stripper, teeth are not the ideal tool.

I think I learnt every lesson the hard way

It’s been a while I haven’t checked the forum, this new version looks great!
Pretty sure it’ll be a success, the gantry looks quite beefier.

2020 will see at least two new versions of the MPCNC, I’ve spent a good part of last month designing my future machine and it should be a very special beast! Just purchased the first parts to make it so I guess it’s on
Exit the wooden frame, this one will be made of aluminum extrusions, ball screws and linear bearings, Z will be achieved with a moving bed and as usual it’ll be huge!

I think the belt may rub inside the belt slot of the truck if you use anything but the 12mm smooth pulley.

Those are good tips.

“teeth are not the ideal tool” <<< no but in a pinch we have all done it.

The gap in my teeth will only let me go down to about 18g. Anything smaller gets stuck.

Z axis is mounted!!! Now it just needs a board and a neat wiring job before I get it dirty! I’m getting close!

UPS is playing with my emotions…

UPS: Your package will arrive Wednesday the 15th
ME: Cool that was quick

Try https://www.17track.net/en sometimes that has better info.

Thanks! It only telling me that it’s at the Salem facility but that lines up with the most recent update.

Impressed! I’ve never got my MMU to be anywhere near reliable enough to even think of trying a MPCNC with it!

What filament is that grey with the flecks? I’ve got a hatchbox that looks a lot like that…but I’ve found it to be unusually brittle so I only use it for decorative stuff and nothing functional.

Can’t wait to see your finished build - looks great so far!

Just noticed that the 660 mounts for the Primo are not on Thingiverse. Makita mount is the only one I am seeing there. It is on Prusa and Git.
