New MK4 is out!

Still no “3.x to 3.9 upgrade kit” that was supposed to ship last month.
Last time i asked, around the 1st this month it was “As I can see in our system, your order should be shipped by half of this month, Chris.”

well its the 18th and still no shipping, i am on hold again to see if i can get a better date than that, considering that the website says a 3.9 upgrade kit is not 3-4 weeks lead time…

"Thank you for your kind wait Chris. I had to check the specific variant about your order to find out why it hadn’t shipped yet. It’s because of the wiring harness for the PSU. We expect to add the estimate table for these orders throughout the rest of the week.

That unfortunately means that I cannot give you an estimate as to when your order will ship."

UPDATE2:
i asked to speak to a manager to try and pay for the BLACK PSU to get these parts
" I’m sorry, at the moment all of my managers are out of shift, meaning I cannot transfer you to one of them. You could write to info@prusa3d.cz requesting to be treated by a manager though." apparently they dont have a manager…

They are trying though. :smiley: Just send them a mail and ask to buy the other PSU. You can always use another one, as frustrating as it is. Better late than getting something that does not work.

I suspect for the MK4 MMU they still need to figure out the problems with the filament unload sensor. :stuck_out_tongue:

My Bolt is supposed to be here next week. It is a race!

Yeah, I have an email in to them since that conversation, and nothing.
SIGH.
The rest of that conversation is that they will not guarantee that I will get it quicker, due to the people in front of me etc. I was told I would get an email back from the manager to move my order to the black PSU so I can get my printer going.

And this is what I love about Australian delivery at the moment.

Picked up in Prague Tuesday 17 October at 6:00 pm.
Arrived in Brisbane Australia 11 AM Thursday October 19th, was cleared through customs, taxes paid and forwarded to a third party for delivery on Friday 20th!

That is truly astonishing - three days to travel half way round the world and get all that paper work done.
80 kilometres to go.

Expected delivery? Monday 30th October.

They must be walking.

And here Paul Hogan taught me it was something else.

As a self professed fan-boy (not really, but I like what they are doing) assembling the Mk$ did nothing to dis-enthuse me. I guess I’m writing this for the benefit of those who hasn’t had the pleasure, because those who have gone before me are obviously still basking in the afterglow. :smiley:

At a rumoured production of 10,000 per month, there are 50,000 of these things in the wild right now so there’s been plenty of time for feedback and sorting.

I know they said that 95% of the parts have been changed from the Mk3, but I was astonished to see the amount of change and thought that’s gone into those parts. Now that Bambu have declared bed slingers are back, all Prusa need is a fancy cover for the screws and they’ll be ready for the next decade!

… I am also glad they marked the number of spare hardware bits included on each packet. It would be quite distressing to get to the end and wonder where you’d left out all this:

Honestly, I feel like one of those soccer team fans. Sticking with your team, even when others are leading the leagues - is a part of the game. I like Prusa and their approach. I don’t feel entitled or deeply emotional either way, but I straight up like their way of doing business. Yes yes, Mr Prusa himself is quite full of himself and found of his own name and face, but who can blame him - that’s the modus operandi for most corporate leaders it seems.

I don’t know if Prusa will “win” this generation of printers, but I’m surely happy with my mk4!

Congrats on your new car! Snow and ev is not always the best combo, but it works as long as you figure out the quirks with ice and snow and freezing vipers, windows and doors and such…

When I was growing up my parents used to keep our spare batteries (AA, 9V…) in the refrigerator. It supposedly extended the battery life. Not sure if there is any validity to that but that’s also a different battery technology. :man_shrugging:t2:

The big thing with EV cars here are the heat pump. When the cars have heat pump, the cost of heating the battery for effecient operation temperatures are way less than ordinary heating. Unfortunately, not all equipment tiers have those, and people end up with cars that are terrible wintertime.

I’ve never had to deal with that living in Texas so I can’t imagine. One of my biggest issues is worrying about burning my legs when first get into a sun baked car. :grin:

It’s one of those things that you don’t need to be aware of in Norway - seatbelt buckles can give little kids terrible burns too, so say nothing of steering wheels that are too hot to touch!

That sums it up nicely, and I was a little relieved to find the really nice improvements in all the small details.

I am really unhappy with the state of “reviews” - they gloss over the details entirely, which concerns me a lot when looking at diode lasers! It’s very hard to discover what is glossy fizz and what is genuine criticism.

I would really like a couple of genuine print- farm comparisons - 5000 hour old machines to really see what’s what. “Long term reviews” happen with cameras to a small extent, but in the laser and print world they only go as far as the next shiny thing.

Oh, I yeah forgot about that. I believe most of my recent vehicles have had plastic covers so it’s not as big of an issue. Sunshades also help.

I got lucky and got one that was already in the process. But the lead time was about 2 months. It is very dependent on the region because some dealerships have had months of orders and GM only gives them so many allocations per week. It won’t matter for long. The bolts are about to finish production until the revamp it at an unknown time. If you don’t already have a reservation, you’re going to have to get lucky at this point

I know way too much about it now. It really was very far from the amazon shopping experience. I am glad that part is over.

Yeah. It worked ok once I figured out how to get the defrost on max (the snow got much worse after that afternoon picture). People complain about front wheel drive and the tires, but those were fine.

The bolt does not have a heat pump. It is a resistive heater. It isn’t as efficient, but it will work as long as I don’t need max range. Driving to the ski resorts will still have to be done in my subaru until I get a better EV when the subaru dies.

There are $12,500 in tax incentives for me to buy a new bolt. It isn’t that expensive to start. So I paid less than I did for the subaru and it was 3 years old when I bought it. It is a great fit for our first EV while we are a two car family.

Our Ioniq 5 is 4wd, which I’m very happy with. The thing that has disappointed me the most, is how all the plastic in the car cracks very easy when cold. The bottom part of the front bumper is cracked on both front sides, and the mesh under the vipers have cracked several places when we’ve been removing snow and ice from the front shield. I don’t think this is specific to EV’s though, people tell me that all modern cars have much more plastic and aluminium outer parts.

EVs are exempt from VAT and taxes, so when buying a new car you get muuch more car for the money. And with the gas prices nowdays, buying a new EV is cheaper on a monthly basis, than driving a gas car.

Norway made EVs mandatory till 2025 anyway, did they? So now way around that as far as I know.

And look at you whith your fancy cars and my family with our shitty Dacia Lodgy we bought third hand, because we basically never need a car, just for trips, and then we need six seats. :smiley:

Easy for you to say who live in continental Europe! Try visiting the outer rim of northern Europe without a car, you won’t get far! Closest train is 230km away, and that line only goes to Sweden (harbour for shipping coal). Closest train that actually connects us to other Norwegian cities is 480 km away. That being said - our suburb neighborhood is actually quite well connected by bus, we easily get to the city center and main work areas in 15-20minutes. But outside of those commutes, a car is essential.
