Did you order the Jackpot now? I think it would be great if you could update the old documentation, but the SKR is not really supported any more and nearly everybody who had the problem did already fix it or fry their board.
So by any means, if you’ve got the time, suggest the proper changes in the Wiki, that’d be great. Or maybe a disclaimer should be added at least that the board isn’t officially supported any more and the wiki might be outdated?
I was going to order it before Christmas but the V1 shop showed it was sold out. I have just bought the Skr Pro again. Might be a poor decision but, I’m keen to get it running.
That’s what I did when I fried my SKR (a different failure mode than yours). I had spent a fair bit of effort climbing the Marlin learning curve, and didn’t want to start again at the bottom of a different curve. I’m content with that decision.
Odds are that you may have to install pigtails on your new board as well. Biqu (maker of BTT) has not fixed the issue, AFAIK. My replacement board needed the pigtails more than the board that I blew up.
The big thing is to make VERY sure that you install the pigtails properly BEFORE you power things up. Now that you know what the issue is, and have installed them correctly at least once, things should go smoothly, but if you reverse the 3 pin connector, you can damage the board again.
You should be able to just swap the drivers, plug in the stepper wiring, endstop wiring and display wiring and be ready to roll.
We are here to help when you are ready to resume. If not me (I’ll be on a beach for a couple of weeks), then there are other members here ready and willing to help you out. Best of luck!
Well, technically, it is. There is still a pretty good set of documentation available, and there are still some users (like me) who are willing and happy to provide support and advice.
It IS safe to say, however, that the Jackpot has become the controller of choice for most new users (and a pretty substantial percentage of older users), and that the popularity of the SKR Pro v1.2 has diminished considerably over the last year or so. That has affected the number of forum users that can provide advice and support
Or both!
Okay done that and measured voltage across each signal and ground pin with and without the pigtail (without=2.65v, with =3.0v). Each time I have to power cycle to get a correct reading, just a reset button triggers the z-probe. Send M119 Always y2_min and z_max = triggered regardless of which one is plugged in or none. EXCEPT when I have the pigtail on X then the M119 results are ALL open, every one. So there it is, conclusively fried.
Hi All,
Got my new board all endstops now wired correctly and everything is working as it should. Homing successful.
Maybe a silly question; do I need a resistor on the Z touch probe wires?
