New build LR V4 started Canberra Australia

What a great project, thanks V1E
Don’t have the room for a full sheet machine though have a use for around 1/2 sheet.
Currently printing parts and hunting and gathering parts. USD to AUD is pretty harsh at the moment so minimising orders from the US though thinking I’ll splash out for the for the controller.
This won’t be a fast build but it’s underway.

The controller can be ordered through Elecrow as well, with Ryan getting a cut. There might also be a new controller soonish (maybe) that has drivers and esp included and can even be more easily ordered (probably). Don’t take this for granted though, but if you can wait a bit…

What you should get is the aluminium plates and, if using the Makita, the collet. Those are the hardest to get elsewhere while honouring the license for the plates. The collet is just not available anywhere else in the world.

You can get the makita collet from ebay in a set

Ummm, not quite.

I meant America, sience is also American, as is elaire, who manufacture Ryan’s collets. But cesar had some alternatives. I didn’t have any in Germany.

Hi Mike, I did the sums somewhere around here recently, and really there’s not much in it for us (in Aus) buying the lot from Ryan and buying from LVO and Elecrow direct. It was a month or so ago admittedly but I think our dollar has strengthened slightly against the US, and it was about $20.00 difference for the lot and from Ryan you get the firmware ready to go.

If I am not correct, could you please post the current numbers so the record is straight (at this time).

Gday Pete, current rate is ~ .66 to USD
By the time I mess around with Amazon and other suppliers, multiple freight fees it was working out better off with V1E, plus I’d rather support the people that are putting so much out to the maker community and very generous licencing terms. So hardware kit and jackpot from V1 was the straight forward way to go and putting a bit back in.

Gday Phillipp, thanks for the reply. I’ve gone with a V4 hardware kit and a collet while I was there. I hadn’t picked up the need for the collet, thanks for that.

A week later and lots of printing done. Watching the tracking for delivery of the hardware set and some other parts from V1E. Great response time and shipping got underway quickly. Its a long way to Aus though. Time to get going on the building the bench

I’ve never given that much thought, but I bet Ryan’s kit is on the lowest tier of air freight, because otherwise you’d really be waiting on the slow boat.

What is the typical transit time for goods sent USA to Aus?

Your parts are looking sharp, the build should go fairly quickly when the kit finally arrives.

Hardware kit is ex China, Jackpot and other parts ex USA, I’ll let you know after they arrived

I’ve always received parcels from @vicious1 easily in about a week - I’ve been super surprised, the route has been quite bonkers to watch though.

Yay, hardware kit arrived ex China, 7 days from order so can’t complain about that.

The ex USA parts have been sitting in customs clearance in LA for 4 days now, we’ll see how that goes. No rush for me, I’ve got assembly to do and a bench to build

USA->Australia shipping involves pre-clearing customs in the USA? Cool.

Hi, I’m in Canberra too and thinking about purchasing my first CNC kit. When you get this thing up and running would you mind letting me check it out and pick your brain a bit?
