No A axis, lame! ![]()
On a more serious note, I was wondering if anyone had tried mounting one of those āultrasonic blade cutterā to a CNC?
This could be an interesting addition and laser-alternative for vinyl or light foam cutting

Thatās how the cutters on the cnc tables Esko sells work.
Pretty cool! Could be a neat project in the education section, whenever that gets going.
Hereās the video linked - what a shame itās not available for others to reproduce! (nor is it for sale)
Very neat mechanical book project.
@Bigchepin, thanks for sharing the hackaday article. That article references 2,100 Mechanical Mechanisms | Hackaday which references https://www.youtube.com/@thang010146/videos with thousands of mechanical videos, many of which are accompanied with links to .step/model files enabling others to reproduce. Thank you Nguyen Duc Thang!
A 2cycle trim router. Yikes! Thatād need a different core material.
@dos , a physical catalog!! A man after my own heart. ![]()
A pneumatic router looks interesting, but I imagine the torque at lower RPMs would be problematic.
But when you have a pneumatic hammer who uses a dremel? ![]()

This old Tony did a video on ultrasonic cutters.
I saw that earlier, Full size LowRider table base. For those building a cnc on saw horses might want a project like that. I am going for a bit less involved for mine since I donāt need the modularity and just need scrap storage.
Following along for this CNC build. Heck of a lot of work, but I am very interested to see how it goes.
Hahahahahaahahahaha!!! I was just about to post this!!
John makes cool stuff.
Not sure how relevant to anybody here unless you happen to find a P-47 in your barn, still in the crate⦠or, possibly youāre attempting to effectively document steps toward YBR assembly of something. This is IMO a fun and entertaining watch⦠really neat!
A bit of backstory: my Dad served in the Army Air Corps (pre-Air Force formation) in Italy, Sicily, and North Africa during WW2⦠following Patton as he swept northward toward the European continent. Dad was an aircraft mechanic and worked on many/most of the US aircraft used during that conflict⦠including many P-47 Thunderbolts. Iām not sure if he ever assembled one from a crate, as shown in this video⦠but he most certainly knew that plane inside and out.
Dad continued his ace mechanic ways after the war⦠and came home upon discharge to marry Mom and, of course, hasten my entry into the world in 1946.
Enjoy!
Ahhh! He freaks me out how close he gets to his table saw blade without a push stick.
Iāve always wanted to do an epoxy granite bed. This could possibly be a cheaper alternative.
He freaks me out with a few things like that - heās right up there with all the car guys who donāt fit guards to their angle grinders.
Letās just say his work is fantastic but his personality doesnāt resonate with me, to the point where I keep wondering why he wastes his time building all this stuff he could just buy, as I reassemble a nicely developed part to a CNC machine or printer Iāve justs made ⦠why does he give me such hypocritical thoughts?
