I bet most of those people aren’t thinking, “I will get covid-19 from this beer”. More likely, beer is a vanity item, or a compulsive purchase and people just don’t want to think about the virus while enjoying a beer or buying beers for friends. Or it is just a negative association. There may be other people who are buying less beer in general, because of cancelled parties.
There may also be people who determine that life is too short for corona, and splurge on that microbrew instead

You crazy optimist, you… I see the world (especially the US) as a seething cesspit of morally bankrupt, willfully ignorant hedonists who can’t put down social media and alarmist media outlets long enough to act like functional adults and think for themselves. But then again, I ran out of the house without my meds this morning… 
They updated the headline now. Apparently the survey didn’t say ‘because of coronavirus’ and that was either a mistake or ‘editorial license.’ I know, I know, news that ain’t quite true? Say it isn’t so!
Much easier to speculate now that 2/5 of beer drinkers are just not willing to order Corona because it’s not good beer. And maybe that 4% of regulars that won’t order it in public are just worried about how many idiots are standing around. Either that or THEY never order it in public, either.
Seriously though, can anybody explain to me why anybody drinks Corona when Mexico ALSO exports Modelo?
I have to say, by the pool, with a lime, ice cold corona is a good beer to have. I feel guilty putting limes in nicer beers. It is also good backfill at parties where some people may not want the chocolate stout or a double IPA.
