MPCNC moves only with Repetier Host

Have the MPCNC moving now for a few days, (I will say running when I get my other issues solved)

Well the crown did not so bad, there were beginning issues with the Z-axis, mainly because I ordered the wrong lead screw (2mm instead of 8mm) so I was running way to fast (wrong speed in Estlcam) in the beginning and loosing constantly steps. Well that’s adjusted now and moving fine.

I tried to get the MPCNC moving directly from Estlcam, but it doesn’t do a mm, this morning I installed the V1Pi image on my Pi, and again nothing moves. I use a MKS Gen 1.4, had a Arduino Mega with Ramps 1.4 too (fried the X-axis during the process of changing boards multiple times) with the same result, nothing moves but in Repetier Host.

Put the same V1Pi, on my MP3DP, and does all the tricks, using the same MKS Gen 1.4 board. I was believing the octoprint and the cnc.js are quite similar, so I wondering what I’m missing.

BTW, I use the “MPCNC_Ramps_T8_16T_LCD_32step_DualEndstop”

Nothing against Repetier Host, but it’s quite crap when it comes to connecting. Well it’s more a Windows issue actually but it sucks big time.

This means you erased your boards firmware. You need to reflash it.

Well, I’m very confused now. The Arduino Mega 2560 is even sold on https://www.estlcam.de/steuerung_hardware.php.

I was very close to buy the license but not if there’s only half of the features available. Will try maybe with older versions, there was at least one running the CNC via Estlcam on a Mega.

Might try another board, but that will be then a project for the next year.

Yea, it was the older firmware that sorta worked with the mega. It still wasn’t full featured.

Thanks mate. I think I got it now. If I want to use Estlcam with all the features I should use a Arduino Uno board, but can’t use the Dual end stops as those shields have only 4 drivers. I still have to finish a MPCNC in my other home, might then go that route.

Small update:

The CNC.js is working fine now. Well at least I see communication between the Pi and the browser. Estlcam clearly states that it’s programming the controller, but I guess I had just the head too full at the time. Thanks again Ryan for the hint.

I send a mail to a guy who should know it, Christian Knüll, developer of Estlcam. Here’s the response:

Hallo,

mit Ramps Hardware ist Estlcam leider nicht kompatibel.
Estlcam kann zwar Megas ansteuern, allerdings mit anderer Anschlussbelegung.

what basically means, that Estlcam can deal with the Arduino Mega, with different Pin-outthan the Ramps.

So for now that’s somehow good enough for me, I don’t feel the urge for rewiring the MPCNC and waiting for another month until I get new hardware from the China-man. Well, I still have another build going on, so will use the Uno for that one. I got also an idea for the homing, but let’s discuss that in another thread.
