This Topic is mostly focused on amplifying impact of V1E related videos
Just a quick test of this video page. There are not many options to do this sort of thing, this one is $6 a month. I will be tweaking it a bit and moving it around but there are sections that contain each playlist I can set how many to show and at the bottom of each section is a page list.
Seems to take a second for it to load.
The old way is the playlist use to show a sidebar but youtube took that option away.

Noticed (from inspecting HTML) you’re evaluating using Shopify App YouTube Video Gallery by Elfsight
It’s slow (they do tons of redundant api requests), and layout doesn’t meet some of the curated/sortable/filter requirements mentioned in .
But is better than existing page imo, and can be cancelled anytime if doing monthly plan?
Is there a way to measure the video page’s impact, does Shopify or the gallery shopify app share any visitor/usage stats that’ll help you determine whether it’s worth the cost?

Compilation of video related suggestions/thoughts (Not complete, will need to dig thru main Topic for full context):
So since I am horrible with the videos, should I start offering something for videos?
What if I do some speed tests and offer something in return for beating me with one of our builds. Contests can be tricky legally, international makes this even harder. How can I inspire some speed test videos? Leader board??? That sounds fun, reset the scores every couple months to get fresh videos. To me this is a good option, combating marketing with proof. Making the best value is comfortable for me and proving it feels good. I just can’t do it all myself, and the guy that makes it getting crazy speeds is hardly proof. Lots of users getting good speeds is key in my oppinion.
There are a lot of folks who are starting small side businesses with those low end over seas cnc’s (yet far more expensive than mpcnc) that haven’t even heard of mpcnc and would be impressed. Some comparison videos to those cnc’s would be nice. How do you get both machines in the hands of an influencer?
For the maker market, maybe post stls/info on more maker sites, YT craft influencer videos, things like that. It’s worked so far but maybe there’s more width available there?
A quick comment about speed runs: try to shy away from heavily modified rigs. What you want to showcase is what the Average Joe™ can slap together in their garage, not what Garry Gearhead™ can tinker with and enhance using their specialized experience and existing machinist tools. Granted, it’s fun to have some of the latter videos, to show what’s possible , but focus should be on the former, to show what’s expected . Hell, I might be inspired to “finish” my build (or rebuild it as a Primo), to get some video of a low effort/low skill build.
I know you’re not comfortable with video but maybe taking a marketing or social network student intern/trainee could help you.
Rich video contents can make difference in growing community and transform it to money, publish some of making project on a plublic official youtube channel and make some private( tuning, milling basic, common troubleshooting …) to be propose in a payed zone.
I think, even if it’s the designer/engineer/head-marketer/sole-proprietor making the claims, video is video, results are results. You can make flagship videos with known specs and construction to show what’s possible as advertised and disclaim and end-user’s mechanical abilities, printer squareness, pla quality, tubing straightness, or whatever, then point to a repository of community videos (like your YouTube playlist).

It can.
The only other choice is a custom script that shows basically what was already there and a side bar that used to be there. javascript - How to embed a youtube playlist with a sidebar - Stack Overflow
Beyond that it is hand picking and I do not have time to keep that current.

no, not really.
I am going to try to link more stand out videos in other places but that is a bit tricky. Ever seen “The MPCNC makes coffee” it can get outdated pretty fast.

@jeffeb3 @vicious1 Are there any existing scheduled tasks (cron jobs) that build the V1E website daily/weekly? Or do you have to manually kick off an update when docs/code is changed? Or, does the site auto update when changes are merged-to, or edited in the main branch?
Looks like V1E is a static site generated based on https://github.com/V1EngineeringInc/…/mkdocs.yml using mkdocs .
Reason I ask…
One option for having control over being able to have a fast loading page, and fulfill all the video requirements previously mentioned is to generate video index/metadata at website build time. Then have a page query and render the desired video User Experience. Hopefully someone familiar with mkdocs can chime in on whether executing scripts (e.g. python/javascript) during website build is possible/straight forward to implement, integrate and maintain?
Depending on how, and how often the static website content is generated, another option is to decouple generating the video index/metadata. For example, create a scheduled task (e.g cloud function) that periodically runs. The task executes YouTube APIs (using secret API Key for API access) to generate video index/metadata that some v1e.com/.../videos page will GETs when loaded by the User’s browser.
YouTube APIs require an API key (that gets throttled/billed…) that needs to be kept secret, only available to V1E Admin. Guessing an ancillary V1E repo containing these scripts and API key makes sense?

That only builds the Docs side of the site. It builds anytime we merge an update.
Currently the main site is wordpress, and the shop is shopify. Soon, like next couple of days I hope. The main site will all be on shopify and the Docs will stay the same. The goal is to get rid of the wordpress side and make it a slightly more cohesive experience.

Nothing special built into the new theme and that page looks especially lame. I can’t change the width.
