MK8 Extruder not pulling

I was redoing some of my wire management today and extended all my wires from the extruder to the ramps board. Everything seemed fine but when I went to print, I noticed my first layer wasn’t going down. I checked to see if I am getting sufficient heat and I think I am. I used 22 AWG wire to extend my extruder heater wires to the board. If I manually push the filament it does stream like it did before the change.

It will extrude for about a second than the grooved bearing will stop moving. It doesn’t have any issue pulling the filament back out but pulling into the nozzle it seems to get bogged down. I tired tightening the bearing screw and loosening it but still the same results. I even tightened the hex bolt on the lever but it causes the motor to struggle and hearing it skip real bad. The gear is just tearing the filament and getting the shavings in the grooves. I took the bearing apart but the bearing seems fine, it just struggles to pull it into the nozzle.

The thermistor wire was also extended but used some female to male jumper wires that I had before just added a few more inches to it.

All I can think of is the grooved bearing is the culprit but as I stated before, it’s turning fine except the pull down.

On another note, I finally ended up buying your printed parts and everything was printing pretty well except an occasional shift. I pinpointed it to my wire management and thats why I made the change today.

  1. Did you buy everything from here?Extruder and printed parts from your shop.
a)If you didn’t or changed some things please don’t leave out any details. Doing some wire management and extended all the wires from the extruder to the board.
    b)What firmware?Marlin_091615

  2. Are you using end stops? No
    a)If so please disconnect them.
    b) If the problem is still there leave them disconnected while troubleshooting.

  3. Are you using all my recommended parts? Yes
    a) If not please list what parts you used.
    b) I am not against other peoples parts but most of them have not actually even been tested on a working machine. I am against people making “improved” parts when they have not even tried mine. Please, “don’t fix what ain’t broke”.

Tired a few things this morning.

VREF for the extruder voltage .46-1.3 V but still did not solve the issue with it pulling the filament when using the manual feed option on the repeiter host.

I finally setup the VREF at 0.6 volts and tested a print and it is working for now. Originally I had 0.5 v before extending the wires.

So your good now?

There is a new firmware available, it adjust the 3 axis accelerations. Mainly the z axis so update when you get everything working.
