MillMage - lightburn's CAM

This is what I got back. I think they probably got many requests and setup some automation to respond.

Thanks for your interest!
We’ve logged your request, and will be contacting those selected for beta access in groups from advanced, intermediate, through to entry-level users in groups.
If you didn’t in your email, please reply back with:
Your level of CNC experience
The CNC machines you own
Your current software packages
Thanks!
LightBurn Software Support

In my original request I admitted to being “entry level” and never used LightBurn before.

This is what i got back from them…

Hi Jonathan,

We’ve added you to the beta list for contact, and added a 3rd seat to your key. Thanks for reaching out!

Cheers,
LightBurn Software Support

I had also sent them another email about adding a 3rd computer to my lightburn license so they replied to both in this one. I had put that i was a hobby user/want to be small business lol. So i guess thats why they just said i was added to the list to contact. Hopefully ill hear back from them when the time comes. As much as we have been using the laser on the primo lately we have gotten a lot of use with lightburn and the more i use it the more i like it. hoping the CAM will be close to the same

Not sure if you were able to see any of the demo during LBX but it looks and seems to function very similar to Lightburn so I imagine the learning curve will be rather short.

It makes a lot of sense that they’d be using existing users.

No i don’t have the patience to sift through a 9 hr live stream. Keep hoping i’ll come across a segment of it though LOL

I sent 2 seperate emails. They replied to the one about the license first, then a few hours later i got the one about MillMage and he mentioned both. So not sure if sending both had any help or not. And still not 100% sure I actually made the cut. We will see i guess. Yall already know ill post up if i get a true invite to download and test!

I got that same response first asking for experience level and software exposure and then I replied with the answers to their questions and got the second one that said they had logged the request and basically if selected, they would reach out.

Anyone heard anything from lightburn yet?

Nope.

I got a confirmation of being on the beta list, not too long ago. A while after you guys. Nothing else.

They are flying me in to their headquarters, to make me test out their new suite.

Edit: just kidding. Im only dreaming. Don’t mind me, I’m just turning a little weird, shoveling snow. We already have half a meter.

As long as you don’t get to the point of “the shining” we are all good.

MillMage is well, about milling, and mage as in wizard.

We like the dragon/wizard vibe.

Also - if you guys have any burning LightBurn questions (heh) you can now @me and I’ll get an email ping. That said, we have a VERY active that will probably have the answers you seek as well!

One of my Support agents is in the process of procuring a lowrider as his CNC routing platform

Cool, thanks for coming in to check us out! We are all pretty excited to give it a try.

What board did they choose?

Ha, ha. Yeah, @jeffeb3 called it. LightBurn is great so I can’t wait for MillMage to be available.

Early days - I don’t think there’s been any purchases made yet. We’re all ears for recommendations at this point.

Ryan is definitely the person to talk to. Only man in charge! You probably want a skr and his new board jackpot. That way you have both marlin and grbl to test with.

Oh and thank you for joining the forums!! It really means alot. I see what lightburn is and has to offer and then applying that to cnc has ALOT of us excited.

Mage is the singular of Magi (as in “wisemen” or “wisards” aka “wizards”).

I suspect this is the most likely origin of the meaning of the name. if so, the name is a cognate of “Mill Wizard” or some such.
