Matt's MP3DP V5 Build

It was pent up frustration, and thinking about those pictures someone posted of the gears getting all messed up…

I seriously considered moving the V2S Lite to my old Ender 3 Pro… but couldn’t bring myself to do it…

You do have 2 of them

Like i mentioned. If it needs gears, i may have some extra.

I actually looked at that also. Problem is that the back 2020 on the Trident does not go from end to end. it is listed as a brace as the full frame of the machine is taller. It might work… might me something I want to try as I actually do have a full Stealthburner with a filament cutter sitting in a box…

I mocked it up in Blender a while back. I think it should work.

For the back X brace, it connects to the back Z post as well as the printed parts in the corners. I also planned to maybe screw it to the back panel since I have 1/2" MDF on the back.

For the sides, it requires the ZPost to be a little shorter because the rail carriage is underneath the Y rails and needs clearance.

So the thought was to maybe add some bracing to the side like this

I think in the end, I’ll maybe lose 7-10 mm of Z capacity

That is what I just discovered. I think I may just change the XY on my V4 to the V5 mechanics and just print the plates. We will see how long they last until I want to get back in the basement and machine new ones (and break out the annodizing setup…)

I am REALLY happy with the new AntHead on the V5. Seems to work like a champ once I got it dialed in.

oh… now I remember… I think my plan was just to raise the XY higher.

My top isn’t closed, so I have room to add a hat if I want to enclose it later

Also, I have a printed version somewhere if you want to give that a shot…

Did it not work well? I thought about machining them out of ACM panel (I have lots of scraps) and it is really easy to cut.

Not sure what I want to do quite yet. I may build an AntHead for my V4 mount and start with that. I have a Happy Turtle Lettuce Feeder built and 4 filamentalist rewinders ready to go. Just need a way to cut the filament.

no, it works fine.

I made the printed versions when I was trying to solve the VFA issues and was running out of ideas, so I was just trying to see if vibrations from the motors and plates had anything to do with it.

It didn’t solve the issue, but after re-assembling it, the prints were better enough that I was scared to touch it to put the plates back on lol

I just had some other projects I wanted to do, and they would be easier and less CAD reconfiguring with a Voron setup, and I just don’t have the time for exploratory ideas and CAD rework, etc. right now…

Think if I just clean this up it’ll be fine?

It cant hurt that’s for sure. But I don’t see that causing you issues with getting more tension on the filament. Make sure the mechanism for applying tension is all correct. I had a spring not go in position one time on my Lite and it messed it all up. Once I took it apart again and found that it was good to go.

the biggest problem I found when I took mine apart (pretty sure I was the one that posted those ground up bearing pictures) was that the idler gear would rub against the body. I put new bearings in (they sent them, to me) and put a small shim on the far side. and grease… lots of grease.

:100:

Stripped down and SuperLubed the heck out of my 2nd BIQU H2 V2S Revo as soon as it arrived. Reason…

Managed to fluff up my 1st one and lose a bearing when fixing filament jam. Weeks later I realized and put it back.

By then, remaining bearings were damaged and needed replacing. Was seeing severe pressure waves when bearings were sloppy.

Good luck!

On the back side of this aluminum lever, the steel gear will dig in.

Check that lever for wear. I put a ss washer between that gear and lever… Had to grind a little to make it fit, but it worked.

Thanks for all the input. I am going to clean it up and check it out to try and get it working again. I may also want to try the Hemera on it at some point if this continues to be an issue. Does anyone know where I can find a fan shroud for the Hemera on the V5?

I’m not sure anyone has made one for the V5. You might be able to adapt the one from the V4.

My V5 uses the same Hemera fan and BLTouch mount as the V4 (and V3)

Will that work with the BIQU microprobe?

I know Ryan has a mount that will work with the microprobe. Not 100% sure if it will also work with the Hemera or not.

My H2 V2S still slips horribly, even after cleaning it all out and trying to tighten it up. I think I am going to order a new one and see if I get the same issue.
