Mame arcade

I can’t determine the clearance under your control panel from your drawings, but before you get too far in, make sure you have enough for the controls you are choosing, and make sure it is all “boxed-in” so the wires are protected and out of sight. I think the spinner was the deepest device, but the joysticks require some depth as well. Actually, maybe it was the trackball? The pics I dug up are too dark to tell.

That is a work of art. I think the days of making spaghetti wire jobs for me are gone. Now that i see what it could look like, that will be the goal. Thanks for sharing!

I forgot a hole, had to cnc by hand…

I prefer the robots do my dirty work, proven time and time again.

You could’ve printed a template, semi-robot style

Congrats on the project, it has a unique style too

That hole was the very last thing. I wanted to be done too bad to wait. Now I get to run some wires and take it for a test run.

I also realized, it is kinda ridiculous when people want these CNC’s faster. These parts were all easily cut in under 2 hours. I spent at least 8 hours on sanding, paint, assembly, and finish, plus dry time. As soon as single parts were done I popped them out and started sanding and sealing. At the next *RRF that is going to be my argument for how fast these things are. Cutting an entire 13mm sheet of parts in about an hour is pretty fast. Doesn’t mean I still don’t have ideas for some tweaks.

I hope it gets all tied together when it is assembled. Black controls, stand, and monitor.

My big hope for making it faster is for 3D surfacing/relief projects not really 2.5D work, even though that would be nice too. The 3D stuff takes hours.

I love the look of the OSB. It isn’t for everybody. But it feels good to me. Especially with the black paint as contrast.

After who knows how many years…I pronounce the arcade…DONE!!!

I mean, I am sure there are lots of little things to finesse about the batocera install and the interface but it works. MAME, Tate mode, has any vertical games rotate as they should, easy! (galga is not scaled right, fixed that after the pic…with TATE mode)..

Woo Hoo!
That’s got to feel really great.

And I used more scrap wood than I left behind!

Nice! Playing Star Wars today?

Like the practical arcade setup, and black-wood look.

No Star Wars on the :upside_down_face: 4th.

I need to load up more games. All of them is too many, picking them one at a time is insane, but I might have to go that route. It is pretty easy to actually delete games but there are just to many to load them all and work backwards

There are game packs and filters, but what a person is familiar with is pretty random.

The game aspect is such a giant rabbit hole.

Very smart to narrow down and curate.

I don’t know how many things in the past I have collected only to spend more time looking than doing the said thing.

Congratulations!
I made my second CNC machine to make coin op cabinets. I only made 2 stand up and 1 cocktail, but have made tons of other stuff after that. #CNCEnabledCreativity
