THIS IS FOR RAMBO 1.4. from the V1 shop. I’m trying to get prepared for the laser that I ordered from Banggood. Broke out the Fluke and set it on the + on Pin 45 and - on the - pin in the same row (I also checked the + and - pins and got the 5vdc). I sent the M3 command in repetier and it says “unknown command M3”. Tried various other options - M4, M3 with SXXX, M3 OXX, etc. All come back as unknown command. Does this mean I need to fix and flash firmware?

Nope, do I need to? I haven’t done anything… it’s just the board sent me, no mods/changes.
Yes, it is not on by default. In config_adv starting on line 1376 you can enable it and and adjust some other settings depending on use.
Is there any reason you didn’t activate it by default?
We use it for different things. You want to use it for a laser, I use it for a PID controller. There are settings that need to be changed to make it work for them. Some lasers like the JTech and a few others use the 12v pin so they would not use it. That is the easiest to use multipurpose pin that I have found. Laser get used but by far the most common use is just CNC, I feel having random pins “open” is a bit sketchy.
