LR4 Build in Thailand

Once you get it started though you can put the M3 screw in there before you pull it all the way. That M3 screw defiantly needs to be in there.

Another question - should my side end be flush with the belt piece here, because I have a gap of maybe 5mm:

Other side is pretty much flush.

ideally you would want it flush like the other side but I think it will be ok.

It could be a relatively quick fix if worth doing - I can move both belt lock ends in a few mm maybe?

If the side with the rail is sitting where it should I wouldn’t move that one. I would only move the other side

More face palm moments today. Went to put the X belt in and realised I used the wrong Z screw parts on either side :confused:

Hopefully this build thread can be a good guide of what not to do during the build. I’d like to think they’re common mistakes but at this point I think it’s down to me being a bit slow. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s been about a week and I haven’t managed to get the X belt on, I just can’t fit it in the space here with a screw.

Any tips please?

I’ve tried most days this week, about an hour each time and no luck, I end up cursing the machine to hell and walking away from it in disgust, only to try again the next day with a fresh head, telling myself this day will be the day, but it never is.

I come to you guys, pleading..

Force. With a flat scredriver for the belt, one with a bigger tip to push the screw in.

Where to put the flat screwdriver?

This is as far as I can ever get.

From here, pulling/pushing down the the longer belt part ends up angling the belt and popping out the screw part. Screwing the screw while holding it tight, eventually the screw just manages to screw inside the belt and I have to fish it out and start again.

I’m trying to find some kind of technique but it’s a nightmare. Literally been at it for days now. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

How I do it is use a Phillips screw driver in the screw but don’t turn it. And just outside of the XZ plate use pliers to pull down. Alternate between pushing the screw with the screwdriver and pulling down with the pliers until you work it to the bottom of the slot. I usually prop the beam up on something (soup can works well) to keep it from dropping to the bottom.

Thanks, good technique, no luck though. Even with most of my body weight pulling/hanging with the pliers and rocking back and forth it’s not moving.

Strongly considering the cut in the aluminium plate is slightly too thin, but then if I’ve got a few mm in, unless it gets thinner in the middle, it should be possible..

Its tight for sure but it will go. Just be patient and keep working it

I dunno, I’m not joking when I said I’ve been at it a week :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Something ain’t right.

I have some excess belt length, I wonder if I can cut the teeth off a small section that wraps, get it in, then pulling the belt when it’s in seated and loose due to no teeth would pull until it hits teeth again, and hopefully lock

The teeth locking together is what keeps the belt from coming out. Did you get your plates from Ryan? If you have a small thin file you can try to open the gap at the top a little more but the bottom section where the belt ends up needs to stay the same size
