Lowrider build along with the table build found in this forum! (~ $200 Full sized Lowrider table, Non-CNC Build)
This has been an adventure and scanning through the forum to find solutions to the issues I had definitely helped.
I am a bit confused on one topic which is grounded vacuum hoses. I currently have a cen-tec dust separator attached to a shop vac and figuring out the vacuum hose is beating me up. Coiled hoses, ground wire passing through a regular hose, wire exposed, note exposed… I’m lost
Any simple advice on how to proceed?
I understand that it’s optional but I would like to have one attached to the LR so I can also attach the core cables + touch plate cables all together.
So the basic of it is you can get major static build up in the hose when CNCing especially with MDF. This can do a lot of stuff and should be grounded to prevent the build up. The basic way to do that is to run a bare copper wire through the hose and connect it to “ground” this can be a big piece of metal, or if you are comfortable wiring it to your house electrical can be done that way as well.
Thanks for your response.
Does having a steel wire coil in the hose help the case or, can any hose do the job as long as the bare copper wire is running through it.
Any hose can work, steel wire hose is usually insulated so you can’t use the steel but it doesn’t complicate it at all. There is dedicated anti-static hoses you can buy too but the cost is usually not worth it
My vac hose has the insulated steel coil, the one from the instructions, I connect the far end into the ground wire of a cut-off plug. Works great. If you look around there are even special ground only plugs that you can use.
