Lowrider V4 build Austria

Finally Done

I started my build back in 2024 right after Rayn released the STL files. Had the gantry done in about 4 weeks with waiting for parts in between. Then I started my CYD Pendant build and after that was finished I neglected the project till now…

Finally after almost 6 months it’s finished and works amazingly. This thing is just great, I didn’t expect it to work that well. Thank you Rayn for sharing this amazing machine and everything that belongs to it for free!

Since I had some parts from my old MPCNC build, I didn’t have to buy everything new all in. I paid around €350 including the stainless tubes and pendant parts.

My table is built out of “DOKA Platten.” They are normally used on construction sites for concrete formwork. I had some leftovers from a project my atelier colleagues and I did two years ago. I also built some shop cabinets/tables out of them. There is no better material than free material, right?

I just did the first test cuts today. Before I really get it to work, there are still some things left to do. One of them is building a ceiling lift to get it out of the way when it’s not in use. I will update on this subject as soon as I get the parts for it and some cable management plus wiring in the cables for the Z probe, which I forgot.

My working area is 133cm x 133cm, that’s because our standard wood sheets in austria are 125x250cm.

My pendant project I documented here:

The Mafel FM1000 Mount Files are here:

The Pendant files are here:

The housing for the Powersupply and Jackpot Controllere files are here:

And finally some Pictures.

My color scheme is Wera inspired.

This is what it looked like the last 5 months just sitting around in my office taking up floor space…

Controller and power supply cases.

Pendant working for the first time without magic smoke.

Table in the making.

Finished a perfectly square on the first try and, of course, a crown test.

Bonus Picture. The workbench I built out of the “DOKA Platten” behind me is another one. I am quite happy with how they turned out.

Thank you for reading. I will update this post as it evolves and continues.

Greetings from Austria,
Fabian

Super! That colour scheme is mint. Now come and build me one :stuck_out_tongue: My attempt is paltry in comparison…

:exploding_head: Do they put something in the water over there?! I wish the cleanliness and Maximum Effort you and @Tokoloshe (Yes, I know, not the same country, I’m British, tarring whole swathes of the world with the same brush is what we do!) came as naturally to me… or indeed, at all.

Anyway. I spot XLR4 and Powercon - in the industry, or just a fan of proper connectors?

Damn right! And no beer tastes better than free beer!

Haha, thanks!

I’m used to overdo my projects, that’s why they are taking so long

XLR and Powercon are connections I trust. I worked as an event technician and now in the film industry, so I like to use proper connectors, and they are quite cheap as I’m not using Neutrik originals on my DIY projects.

There is nothing better than Austrian beer, trust me :beers:

What an amazing build!
I’m really interested to see your projects, starting with that ceiling lift for your table.

WOW!

And at the complete other end of the spectrum. I totally half ass them. And still take ages, since I have so many…

I have conducted a fairly extensive survey, and this might be true… More data required

Let me answer this in one simple picture:

Except that you’ve proved my point since what you call a “rats nest” I call “something to strive for”!

I have a whole folder on my phone of proper wiring rat kings far worse than the “rats nest” you claim this is - mostly other people’s work…

Had a bit of a cable mess, with wires getting caught when moving the core left and right. After a night session of Fusion and 3D printing, the issue is solved. Not necessarily but it looks nice and works.

How is your dust collection going to be set up?

Just dangling from the ceiling with bungee cord. But thats an issue I deal with after i got my ceiling lift working. Right know i just vacuum from time to time manually while cutting.

I like the cable chain ends very much, great solution.

Hi, great work, I also converted my self-built CNC from grbl to fluidnc, I also made the pendant, I would like to ask you if you tried to add a MACRO on the webui and if it is also executed by the pendant, I tried the macro from the webui, it works well but the pendant says that the file cannot be executed

Which version of the webui are you using? I am using webui v3 and the macros work with the pendant.

I use webui2

I don’t think it works with v2.

Ok grazie allora credi che debba aggiornare fluidnc con la webui v3?

Yes, if you want to access the macros on the pendant.

Ok thanks a lot for the explanation

Did you get this sorted out and are you able to use the pendant to run your macros now?
