I’m curious as to when the Lowrider4 instructions will be available. I also see most of the hardware kits for the v3 are out of stock.
There is no timeline.
There’s a whole thread about it here
But the official answer is “As soon as possible” and “once it is ready”
Also another thread about that here
Essentially…
So hang tight, but the best anyone can say is “hopefully very soon”
Absolutely cannot wait.
I am not asking for an update, Im just curious when there is a release, is the documentation usually ready to go already or are the early “non beta testers” on their own for assembly?
I know when I built my Primo it was shortly after the release but I dont know by how much. Yet I had documentation for it.
That will be a question for @vicious1 to answer.
At a minimum, I would expect a forum thread that has build steps in it like was there for the printers, etc., even if it has not fully been merged into the documentation site yet.
I was not here when the last one was released though
Roger. Makes sense. Again, I was just curious. Frankly Im going to tear into anyway when the gates are opened! Hahaha
Based on the LR3 release, when a new machine is released, there’s already a build manual with pictures and tips
There may be a few modification in the following couple weeks, but the build instructions are generally pretty extensive from the start
The build process is actually documented alongside the beta program for the most part (beta testers also need to have some kind of manual you know :p)
That’s all part of the key features with V1 machines: they’re not just a 3d printed models shared on a website, you also get a full build manual and some support if you bought from Ryan
It’s not a project, it’s a product…
I just had to wing it. It’s pretty self explanatory though if you have a little experience.
Usually there’s documentation, am expecting the same or better for this release. The community will collectively help one another to be successful with their builds. Usually, early Makers help submit a bunch of doc edits too.
While waiting for release, folks planning to print their own parts might want to consider investing some time ensuring their printers are well calibrated and tuned to have accurate dimensions/skew/flow. Mentioning because my printer wasn’t as well calibrated as I thought, this impacted my initial assembly, delaying my overall build. Calilantern helped me tune beyond quality I got from just using Teaching Tech’s calibration website.
The documentatuon is always evolving, so when the release version hits the docs that exist are going to be a tad sketchy. There are already some instructions already existing, we’re beta testing that, too.
Makes sense. And I kind of assumed that when testing new parts Ryan would have to have some kind of “this goes here” which would morph into complete instructions eventually. Curiosity just got to me!
Nah, he doesn’t. Only after a few weeks. But as I said above: if you have a little experience, there is a logical order to the things you have to do. Sometimes you have a “oh, that screw should have been inserted there earlier, time to unscrew a few things”, but that rarely happens.
Nice work Ryan. I better work out my colours for the lr4😜. Print farms been sitting idle to long
