Thanks for getting me the parts to repair my machine.
running smooth now.
I got a few nice pieces made.
Then I started getting lost communication errors.
I was on Repieter Host fourm and read all I could find.
Checked wiring, checked settings, even changed USB from computer to Arduino board.
checked settings again in RH.
small carves work fine.
The one I am having trouble with is a 3hr 40min rough cut. It is only getting between 26000 and 34000 lines of 70000.
3 tries and each time another piece of wood down.
I copied the log file from RH on the last try. I can send if need to see it.
Just gets frustrating when things start going in the right direction to hit another bump in the road.
Any help is appreciated.

Any chance the computer is going to sleep, even just the screen going off can mess with the USB?

I’ve run into the same problem with my printer a few years ago, it was just a bad USB cable.

This comes up once and a while and it is always something completely random. A refrigerator, dryer, or air compressor coming on are the most recent examples. That tiny flub in the power will screw up the stream of commands. If you can’t narrow it down it is best for you to just use a LCD and SD card.

Yep. I was the beer fridge guy. Look for anything on the same circuit that might cycle and have a heavy initial draw or is very close and creates a lot of RF noise.

I just changed the USB cable. I dont know if it is a sheilded one.
I have not added anything new in the house, or the room, frig, A/C, etc.
I have been running this on and off for a year now.
I am going to Find a shielded USB cable and try that.
Would my Radio headphones put off RF noise. that is new, it is noisy in the room with the router going.

Do I need to use USB 2.0 or 3.0?

USB 2.0 is fine. That’s all I’ve ever used. Definitely a shielded cable is a plus and a good next step in troubleshooting.

I went out and bought one yesterday. Not sure if it is shielded or not, package did not specify.
I ordered the shielded one today online will be here tomorrow.
Thanks for the help I will let you know if this is the fix.

You can usually (though not always) tell if it is shielded by the cable thickness. A shielded cable will be visibly thicker due to the layer of braided metallic shielding between the inner wires and the outer sleeve.
