Learning freecad

New forum category for freecad!!

I did the mango jelly freecad to 3d print and have been trying various things.

My chess set proportionality is off. These are too small. More like too spindly.

These one are a bit wide:

But it has been good practice to make each one in freecad and print the various iterations, clones or copies.

Man, that king sure dined well…

But teasing aside, those look neat!

Thanks. It has been a good experience so far. Moving from corel draw 2d to freecad 3d is different, but not impossible.

I purposely made the king portly… seemed fitting. The printer has the dark color on the bed printing now. Hopefully there was enough filament.

made an air duct for a 5015 fan for a printer:

no supports. first try… but air vents are too close together, so had to move the right tube to the right a bit and reprint. Not sure how to move the slot away from the top plane of the pad that seals the end of the tube…. but it should just work once I mount the fan.

is this designs calculation error or not correct after printing

reason i ask, couple of my last freecad designs with correct measurement , once converted to stl and printed measurement have been under sized in stl eg 8.5mm hole printed at 7mm

a mm here and there can have huge impact on finished product , haven’t been able to where or why its happening yet

Good question. I didnt have the calipers out. I just moved it over. I’ll have to measure for accuracy on the latest one.
