Awesome, thanks guys! Only made a handful of short 4 minute cuts to learn the ropes, but plan on cutting some strut plates this week, as well as anything else I can think to throw at it so we shall see how it holds up!
Interesting, for my zip code (Seattle area) they’re still showing sale price. Maybe price resets when local store’s inventory clears, and/or some other logic?
Edit: I was wrong. Keep reading, people with the gift of sight and observation figured out…
That is the cordless one.
That’s the Brushless battery tool.
Make sure it’s Item #5207238 | Model #K7TR-03
DOH!
Though now with an end date as noted in the screen shot above
Still showing at the awesome sale price for me, although the end date shows as Jan 17 instead of Jan 18, and…
Ryan’s amazing LR3 design is still showing “above the fold”!
I think I might grab one or two more, about time I build myself a proper router table now that I’m going to be seeing a lot more tabs that need to be trimmed!
Wel… Kobalt did not pick it up. Seems when these went on sale so did another major brand for the same price so any hopes of it bought because it was less expensive went away. Seems it was either bad timing or the other brand was being proactive.
They still could get picked up by other brands…fingers crossed.
A shame, really. Nevertheless you all should have bought like, at least, four by now.
Launch of a new product is apparently a grueling process.
Had a meeting earlier about how we’re going to spend the next 6 months gearing up for a 100 day accelerated lifespan test that needs to be completed before launch, and that’s one of probably 50 different plates that are spinning at the moment. It’s unbelievably brutal.
I’m trying to piece together what that means - the manufacturer you guys were collaborating with was not Kobalt?
Kobalt (A brand name used by the US Retailer Lowes) uses other manufacturers to re-brand products that they label and sell as their own.
As I understand things, the manufacturer that is building the router that Lowes is selling also manufactures similar product that is also then sold by other retailers.
In this case, I believe the “Cheap competitor” is at the retailer Harbor Freight, and it is (as typical) slightly under-pricing that version compared to the one Lowes is selling. Whether that was market intelligence by Harbor Freight, or shady dealing by the original manufacturer I do not know and can not tell.
Dang, well now I’m semi regretting printing all my parts in Kobalt blue to match the router
I guess I’ll leave them out in the sun for a little so they fade to Hurcules blue for my future replacement routers
I am pretty sure it was one of the big three routers had a black friday sale as well. I am not sure which but I am pretty sure it was available at the same store.
My Lowes still had 4 in stock so I picked one up. Figure a backup isn’t a bad idea given the state of things and I can use it for non-CNC purposes.
Yeah, they’re now on clearance for the $59. Too bad.
Bummer, I never even saw them in my local Lowe’s. I was hoping they would appear at some point, but guess not.
Its not only hard to just start a product but to overcome brand followers (tool brands especially)
Hopefully someone comes and picks them up, honestly wouldn’t hate it if harbor freight picked it up. Or hart tools (Walmart) they’d at least keep the price point down and offer some kind of warranty.
