Kayak build

I was going to joke about not even trying to make a wood life jacket… a quick search and holy crap, a few companies make them out of wood…

You really do learn something new every day!

Got the last strip done on the bottom of the Kayak. Made a video of the process.

It was a good one, seeing that satisfying fit was worth the watch!

More progress.

I did some initial sanding. Later this week I’ll make a cradle to flip the kayak over to start on the top.

I got a little saw dust on me.

Just a few shavings.

What a difference already.

Got the kayak flipped over yesterday. Today I ordered epoxy and fiberglass.

No other progress on the kayak today as I spent the day playing “Against the Storm”

I’ve been putting tons of hours on it since I’m off this last week.

The plan is to work on the kayak tomorrow and Monday.

Last kayak video of the year.

Top of the kayak takes more work than the bottom.

That’s really cool and can’t wait to see it done and in the water!

Although, it’d be cooler with making a wooden paddle and wooden life jacket… lol

Just kidding. It is an awesome build!!!

I keep thinking Canoe…Oh man that top is going to be crazy. I do not have that sort of patience. Thanks for letting me watch you do it though!

A canoe would have been so much easier.

Oh. Speaking of crazy… I spent 30 minutes the other day just staring at the top trying to figure out how I’m going to run the strips.

I’m thinking I’ll do a paddle in the future.

Awesome work! I’ve tinkered with diy boats, stitch and glue stuff, and part of the reason for building this LR3 was to cut boat panels. And for making big signs and other things larger than I could with my smaller DIY cnc builds. Keep up the great work!
