as long as it lines up the same I don’t see why not. Wait you are using the V4 Z set up right? in that case I really don’t see why not. The back wall will have to change though because the V5 is wider.
I was going to use the v4 z setup, but having to redo the back wall makes it so it must be completely disassembled because i built the frame with 90 degree angle brackets and then put sides on. Those brackets can’t be used with the way the back motor mounts and the front belt pulleys attach, so it will have to be moved out 5 mm and use different angle brackets and all V5 parts. This is probably a better end result anyway. Given my time budget today, I won’t have new boards made for it and be able to get it working, so it will be an open frame to start with.
A couple problems so far:
- one of the z clad acrylic pieces cracked because the pulleys and spacers are narrower than the belt holder and I overtightened
- I had 0 5x35 mm bolts… thinking the 5x30’s I had would work, but they don’t because of the cladding, so I’m using 10-24 x 2" and I’m going to have to cut them all. if you look close at the pic, you can see them sticking out right now. They won’t be able to be cut in place, but it doesn’t look like it will be a problem if they stick out for now.
- the linear rail for x is too long, so it has to be cut down one bolt hole
Working to size the panels for my printer height and then I’m thinking I’ll paint them so it will be ligher inside.
The v4 printed all its new parts to become a V5. With the window of time nearly closed, it won’t get sides just yet.
The belts are quite challenging to get in all the way. The core mount setup and fan mount are much more robust.
Don’t forget the M3 screw in the belt loops on the core
thats the belt that wont go in all the way
You might be able to push it the rest of the way in with your screw driver on the screw. I seem to remember doing that with one of mine
is there a mount for an accelerometer / tuning setup on this v5 core?
Exciting to see another one getting made.
I put mine on the fan mount, JJ and Mike used the canbus board mounted on top.
Can it be mounted at 45 degrees on the back slope?
It is all running after configuring the rear y end stop… X any Y home as expected. Except the back z motor. The Z1 motor test just fine, but won’t home with the others. Thought the belt was loose, or a broken wire. Not those.
Oh and this:
EDIT:
cut another thinner part and glued it on the outside:
AND - turns out the v4 motor 1 was oriented 180 degrees, so it was a direction problem and not a skipping problem. this is what happens in the late evening when one should be sleeping…
No. I don’t think so.
Did you have mount holes in the core for the ADXL345?
no, I don;t think so
Dang that was fast!
It isn’t as complete as I had planned. But it works and I don’t have any more time to have it in 1000 pieces. The calibration and tuning that didnt get done on the v4 for the anticipated V5 upgrade are now due for completion.
Given the serial number, RON may be referred to as “Johnny”.
YES!!! 1000%
Number 5 is alive.
No sign of ripple, yet.
Dang. I need to get my but in gear to crank out #6 so I can call it “The Prisoner.”
