- is this a bed slinger: no, it is a core XY (similar to the P1S, but the bed is very different)
- is there auto bed leveling: yes. it has 3 motors to tilt the bed to level (think voron trident. example of my first one that started as a v4 here)
- the v5 is designed for a 300x300 mm (12"x12") bed (larger… p1s is 275x275 10x10).
- advantages: education. Self build customization, high end or budget build possible.
- disadvantages: Time. it takes a lot of time to source, size, assemble, test, and tune.
there is no kit to buy for this one. You can buy a voron kit. This system is a great design and very capable. It will take a long time to build and must be done carefully to ensure a square machine that will yield a quality print. You can make it cheaper by buying cheap components, but you can also put in good parts and make it really nice. If you use klipper firmware control software, you can customize it a ton. It all depends on what you want. After building 2 of these because I bought a few parts at a time over a long time, I wonder if I might have been better off from a time perspective to have saved all the money and purchased a couple Qidi systems like a Q2 machine or another multicolor system that would have cost about the same, but not have taken all the time. I really enjoyed and suffered through the build and earned some understanding. This isn’t to discourage you from building, just to set a realistic understanding that the time investment is significant.
