JJ’s Full Sheet LR3 Rebuild

$800 is crazy.

We’re covered in brick too so I guess we get some extra Thermal protection, but our electric bill is less than half that even before the replacement windows and new AC unit.

I’m probably getting to the point of diminishing returns if I try much harder to lower electricity use, but my biggest inefficiencies were glaring, so I didn’t have to invest in any tools to find them. I’ll probably never recoup that investment either, but the house is significantly more comfortable to live in now

Edit to clarify: None of that means I still wont end up with a thermal camera one day lol

Yeah we are full brick too. But I don’t help it much either. 73° during the day and 69° at night. Plus a window unit running in the computer room to help that room out. Multiple freezers/fridges. I really should go though and optimize a LOT of stuff but I just don’t have the focus for it lol.

We pay 230€ electricity and 220€ gas… We barely heat though.

No gas here unfortunately All electric. But we might run the heater a week a year LOL. I want gas for the stove and water heater. Called about getting it brought in. The line runs in front of my house on the other side of the street. Problem is that street is a 4 lane state highway. Been waiting a year for a call back with a price.

Same. No gas. Called to see about it and they said I’d have to pay to run it from the nearest street. 1/4 mile away. $30k……

I don’t like cooking on a gas stove THAT much…

We don’t have a gas stove regrettably but heating and water.

Back to the real topic: What kind of aluminium are you using? I am contemplating an aluminium strut plate as well, so that my Z can drop even faster. The one I can easily and pretty cheaply buy is AlMg3, which does not have brilliant machining capabilities if I believe that list: https://www.precifast.de/aluminium-fraesen-leicht-gemacht/. So, which one do you use?

I honestly have no idea what grade it is. I go to the welding shop about 15min up the road and tell them I need this size aluminum sheet and they give me a price lol. I will look on what I have left and see if there is any writing anywhere but I haven’t noticed any

Thanks. :slightly_smiling_face:

No problem. We looked all over the sheet and it doesn’t say anything on it.

Well @Michael_Melancon it seems your not the only one who had to trim their pipes. Just glad I looked at it before I got it all together lol

lol…I have a similarly sized ring still on my counter.

Definitely better to reduce the number of times you have to take it apart

Sad thing is I still wont have it together today. Trying to figure out how to put what’s in my head into fusion360 for a LED mount for the back side of the acrylic. And these damn flat head screws are too short. But just a touch. Should have gotten 35mm instead of 30mm. Cant get to the nylon without overtightening the brace. And I surely don’t want to over tighten anymore LOL. @vicious1 might drive all the way from CA to slap me if I do

For a long time. i was writing code to find people i don’t write that kind of code. But I still don’t have one. The iphone one is nice. But I have a USBC phone.

They have a USBC option as well

Modeled up a mount for the LEDs behind the acrylic. Printed up a test and then made some minor adjustments and printed another. Now the V4 has 6 on the bed to print tonight. Will have to print 3 more in the morning. It fits well and hopefully it will work as good in practice as I think it will in my head LOL.

This was made to fit between the braces and hold the LEDs at a slight angle into the translucent acrylic. I sure hope it works and isn’t a huge waste of time. Oh they will each hold 2 strips of 8 LEDs each. And there are 9 of them for a total of 144 LEDs, this added to the 172 that are on the bottom strut for work piece lighting and then another 20 or so that will go under the 1/2" acrylic YZ plates lol. Should have no problem seeing this thing coming LOL. Oh and yes I have a separate 12v 6A power supply just to run the LEDs

Note to self. Next time spend the money on non IP65 LEDs when you don’t need the water proofing. My thumb is not happy. And still 10 more strips to do :man_facepalming:
