I have a Burley that my son and I bult a while back. We built it with the mini Rambo board. I decided to upgrade to the Jackpot board. When I installed it i used the same wiring as the mini rambo (both steppers wired together to one driver ) I think that is called series. I ran the machine about 2 hrs total this way and realized that I was missing steps and that I should have wired them separately. Got new cables and wired it up. Now only one motor will jog for X and Y. I have swapped the motors on the the board and the problem follows the board. Only the motor wired to the X and Y drivers works. I am wondering if i damaged the A and B drivers by running the board with nothing wired to them.
They should be fine.
Did you download the config for the MPCNC from here?
I bought the board from V 1 and my understanding was that it was ready to go. I haven’t downloaded anything. What am I supposed to do?
Did you make sure to select MPCNC when you got the board or did you get one programmed for the LowRider by chance?
I don’t think i choose anything. Didn’t know there was a difference. So how would i tell if I have the right one or not?
The board is identical between them, it’s just the config.yaml that changes.
Ok so your saying i should update the firmware with the link above. Is there anywhere that i could get step by step instructions on how to do that. Not a computer guy an aircraft mechanic
It’s not updating the firmware that is something different - with fluidNC the configuration is stored in a specially formatted text file called config.yaml
You need to grab the config.yaml for the mpcnc from the link posted and upload it to your jackpot using the web interface.
On the webUI, click on the FluidNC tab to the right of Dashboard, then the green button to view the local file system.
I personally like to save a copy of the current config.yaml
Upload the config.yaml for mpcnc and then power off and on.
That fixed the problem Thank You to everyone and thanks for the very complete instructions. This forum is a fantastic resource
