Jackpot CNC Controller/ SKR-PRO V1.2

Is the jackpot cnc controller firmware compatible with the SKR-PRO V1.2. The SKR-PRO is no longer in the shop to purchase and our board went out so we are looking for a new board with the same firmware loaded into it to get our Lowrider 4 CNC machine operational again?

No, the Jackpot uses FluidNC firmware which is completely different. You could certainly use it with an LR4 but it’s different.

Not sure why the SKR Pro isn’t in the store anymore but these days the Jackpot is more popular.

Here’s a comparison:

What happened to your board? They are typically pretty robust. Maybe we can fix it.

You can also buy the SKR Pro v1.2 directly from BTT (online,)

Yes I did see that the only problem was when ordering from V1 engineering the firmware was already installed onto the board for us.

Loading the firmware is pretty easy. You just need to select the correct file, put it on an SD card, insert the SD card into the SKR, and turn on the power.

When I built my first V1 machine (LR3) I got a SKR board from another supplier (sorry Ryan) so I had to flash the V1 firmware on it myself, it’s honestly pretty simple and the guide in the docs is thorough enough.

Since then I’ve build 2 LR4s, one uses a jackpot and honestly, I wish I switched ages ago.

What is the issue with your SKR though? Maybe it’s something simple enough?

It looks like when I purchase the jackpot from the shop, they will preload the firmware for the lowrider on there. do you think thats compatible for both LR3 and LR4? Thanks Josh

I’m 99.999% sure that LR3 and LR4 configurations/firmware are the same. This applies to both Jackpot and SKR.

Perfect

Yup, confirmed, both are the same config.

It looks like the end stop wiring is different from the previous board. any recommendations or input on how to do the wiring for those on this board? Thanks

That should be what you need.

We’ve just had our second SKR Pro board fail today. First one failed maybe a year ago. Had a replacement, so we’re back on line, but now have 2 failed boards. Can you repair them? We’re ordering another to have on hand. Since they’re only $50 or so, hardly seems worth it to attempt repair. Shipping back and forth would probably cost about that much.

Please start a new thread so we can figure out why you are killing boards. That is extremely not normal.

New thread though this thread is a separate issue.

We should figure out how you’re blowing them.

Depending on what failed, maybe.

Exactly.

Better is to figure out why you’re popping boards and fix that.

Ways I know to kill an SKR board:

Plug or unplug a stepper cable while power is applied to the system (this includes intermittent stepper motor extension wires). This only happens some times, and usually just kills the driver. It can kill the SKR board.

Move the machine rapidly by hand while it is off. (If you move it fast enough that the display lights up, you’re nearly to the point where you fry the board)

Short Power to ground on those terribly designed endstop pin headers.

(on 3D printers) short the BLTouch headers, or the hotends.
