Jackpot 3 Controller spindle control AMB

Hi, is there a way to control the AMB spindle with the jackpot 3 controller? i’ve bought the 0-10V Spindle CNC I/O Module but it doesn’t seem to fit onto the jackpot 3 board.

That is where the module is connected, please check the pin out so you dont fry your board/module. Ask me how😂

Edit: you should provide a standoff so you can fix the module

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I had the i/o module working from the Jackpot 1 but it doesn’t fit on the Jackpot 3.

I’m curious about this. I’ve put modules on the Jackpot 3 without issue.
Can you post a picture of the fit issue you’ve had?

Well it’s because the 0-10v module used on the original Jackpot has 12 pins versus the Jackpot 3 having 7 pins. I would like to know if it even still needed to control a spindle at this point.

The Jackpot V3 has a subset of the full expansion module header, and it follows what Bart has done in other cases where space is constrained. You can install the full size board in the JP3 module, making sure the standoff is installed (it serves as an alignment key and mechanical support.

When I did this in test, I put some Kapton tape on the Jackpot under the exposed pins, but this isn’t technically necessary.

0-10V spindle requires a module on any version of Jackpot.

This is very helpful and I will try your suggestion tonight. Thank you very much!

Well i tried and this just isn’t right. See the image….

If you pull the screw connector terminal block off of the right side of the module as shown in the picture, does the module sit on the Jackpot correctly?

That looks like a cable harness layup issue to me and possibly a need to trim the jackpot box depending on how your routing will be for the spindle cable.

It’s the overall length of the 0-10V module, plus its wire set plug, plus the wire terminals that cover the wires; the wires completely cover the 24V and 5V connections on the Jackpot board. and won’t allow the 0-10v module to sit level.

In my opinion, the 0-10V module is ostensibly incompatible with the Jackpot 3, and for that matter, I think other Bart Dring expansion modules would be awkward at best on the Jackpot 3 board.

I believe an earlier version of the 0-10 V module did not have the extra wire screw plug adaptor and just had screw connections directly on the module:

This is exactly it!

Are there any other options?

That older version is what I had to test with.
I have other modules, I’ll test fit those that I do have on the JP3 as a double check.

You could de-solder the green wire plugs from the PCB and just solder individual pin connections to the PCB

True. I think there’s also a right-angle variant of the connector that mates to the PCB, so it may be possible to just swap the external cable connector to that.

Hmmmmm all good ideas. Looks like i need to learn how to solder.
