It is brave to post your shop photo. Whether my work space or my home shop area or the garage work space, Im not very tidy and I dont like to broadcast that, but you are in good understanding company. Sorry to hear of your challenging life events. Glad to hear you are pushing forward with your build.
Regarding controllers: jackpot is probably the quickest support option around here. Older tech can work, but may take a bit more time to dial it in depending on your preferred firmware flavor and if you have to iteratively recompile and test.

I’m usually the opposite, everything has a designated place. However I used my grandmas barn as a second shop but I had to rush that stuff out and then help my sister move less than a day later. Needless to say everything got thrown in there and be it laziness or just the overwhelming feeling of dealing with all of that I’ve not dealt with it. But that’s changing, thankfully.
I think I wasn’t clear or maybe I don’t understand your part on the firmware, I am more talking about using the Jackpot and making some of this old tech I have a dedicated WebUI controller. Or are you saying there’s a way to make some of this tech into a wired controller?
No i misunderstood your controller question to be jackpot “OR” not jackpot “AND”. Whichever is large enough for your fingertips to function without accidental catastrophies would get my vote.
As far as a tablet/phone for WebUI goes, as long as it can use a current version of a modern browser, it should be fine. It still might work otherwise.
Going for a theme on the LR4, but don’t think you know my politics because you know my patriotism (frankly I’m so over politics lately)
Still aways down the list on the printing stuff phase. But I can daydream 
Slow progress on the shop but progress none-the-less, cnc table is like 90% clear and I actually have a path out the garage for once since the drama.

No worries, we have another French-themed LR4 around here… 
quick update for you all, not abandoning anything yet but apparently after all this time it was my turn to end up in the hospital 
. Meet with the doctors on Monday and hoping I can still make it to reprap
In the mean time I’m left pondering on all the projects I want to do.
Man this is a long recovery process but I’m on it. I’m finally feeling like I have some strength again. I’ve been thinking about the table a lot cause I really want to focus on making something overkill while also trying to keep it cheap or possibly even free. It occurred to me that metal bed frames go for free all the time. I’ve never focused on how square they are but they’d be heavy enough and ready enough to get my hands on if I’m patient
