I bought my second 3D printer ever

only 3??? That’s nothing LOL All of my printers are different and some even use different slicer  But I am not at your level of production by any means… yet…

You can run klipper on your current board with the Pi. I personally never cared for octoprint. I much prefer mainsail and as long as you take the time to get your config and macros right you will have a solid machine for sure. My V4 got WAY better when I switched over to klipper. It is still running the SKR Pro.

Production, so they all tend to get the same files. It means I have to slice and upload three times, then print and verify all the first round of test prints.

If I change or edit any files, I have to do it all again. 3x’s the work, just makes me want to edit things even less than I already do.

Totally get that. Do you find that each printer is the exact same as the next or do they have enough variability to cause any issues? Temp readings, hotend, etc…

You have one 5015 24v blower fan from V1E shop that’s able to keep up with cooling parts at the speeds your v5 is printing PLA parts at?

Was curious about belts because you mentioned “cloth” belts in a couple of posts, so was wondering if you had tried PowGE RF-Yellow or RF-Brown?

Mine is currently pushing 27.5mm³/s through the Orbiter V3 and the single 5015 seems to be keeping up ok. It is printing a rather large part though so layer times aren’t anything crazy.

Each one has a tuned slicer profile.

Yes, I do normally print giant parts though so Not sure how a single normal sized benchy stack would look.

Both, they seem extremely similar to me. To be honest I am not sure which one I just installed.

@Jonathjon, that’s a nice volume of material. Is your 5015 part cooling fan duct setup same as this screen cap from your MP3DP v5 Nozzle brush test video?

No not any longer. I am running the duct that Ryan made for use with the Orbiter V3 and BTT Eddy

The connection of the 4 cables is pretty janky. All in all though if you had a small farm using this just means turning your printer a bit to stack them side by side.

I saw it posted on FB last night and the reception was very mixed feelings. Time will tell I guess.

That 4 line connection is lame, but so is the poop shoot really. There are poop shoot mods so I am sure there will be filament input relocation mods as well. The rest seems pretty standard.

If they stick to the $229 pricing I will try one for sure.

Did you see the reports of people saying the SSR gets too hot? This guy burned his house down https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/s/22mrljRVpr

Not sure if it’s the same model but might be worth additional research and maybe a physical inspection of yours.

It is the same printer. I am not surprised, with that price the corners have to be cut somewhere. So guys, get some of those fire extinguisher balls if you are going to continue using those printers.

That issue is only for the chamber heater. I would be willing to bet Ryan has never and probably will never even use that function on his. But for $10 on amazon you can get a much better SSR and replace it real easy. And still be much cheaper than some of the alternatives.

They have done a firmware update to limit the chamber SSR. But If I do ever come across the need to use it I will most certainly swap it out.

Thanks for the heads-up.

FWIW, that redditor never used the chamber heater either:

My Plus 4 has the new SSR (another fire hazard that wasn’t handled correctly), though that shouldn’t have mattered anyways, as I only printed PETG, so I never used the chamber heater.

That’s a damning story. At the very least put a fire extinguisher beside the printer.

Oh dang. He had an extinguisher within 10 feet. That is wild. I am shocked it went up so fast there are no batteries in it.

I have an extinguisher about 12 feet away, If I am ever in my office while it is running I have one there as well. Both new, about 1 year old. I don’t leave it running overnight. I will hit it with a thermal camera soon to see if I have any hot spots.

Replacing the SSR isn’t the problem. Not having appropriate thermal fuses or other protective measures is the problem. Being cavlier about responding to reports of a defective design is a still worse issue.
