How do I use the touch plate with the Primo MPCNC

I am using the following setup for my MPCNC Primo Conversion:

Arduino Mega with a Ramps1.4 board driving the steppers. The interface for the Arduino is a [RepRapDiscount Full Graphic Smart Controller](RepRap - RepRap LCD The firmware is the V1 Engineering Marlin 2. I will be using the Flyfisher604 F360 post processor for CAM files from Fusion 360.

I wired the touch plate into the signal and - terminals on the Z min endstop terminals on the Ramps board.

On the LCD if I press AUTO HOME the following occurs: Z raises (not always the same amount), X homes, Y homes, and Z raises a small amount and then lowers a small amount.

When I press HOME Z it lowers maybe 1/16" then raises about 5/32? It is unaffected by the touch plate.

How is the XY homing sequence and the Z Homing actually supposed to work?

I can’t figure out how to set the starting point reliably for a milling job.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don’t home Z on an MPCNC. You probe with the touch plate.
