How do I use the touch plate with the Primo MPCNC

I am using the following setup for my MPCNC Primo Conversion:

Arduino Mega with a Ramps1.4 board driving the steppers. The interface for the Arduino is a [RepRapDiscount Full Graphic Smart Controller](RepRap - RepRap LCD The firmware is the V1 Engineering Marlin 2. I will be using the Flyfisher604 F360 post processor for CAM files from Fusion 360.

I wired the touch plate into the signal and - terminals on the Z min endstop terminals on the Ramps board.

On the LCD if I press AUTO HOME the following occurs: Z raises (not always the same amount), X homes, Y homes, and Z raises a small amount and then lowers a small amount.

When I press HOME Z it lowers maybe 1/16" then raises about 5/32? It is unaffected by the touch plate.

How is the XY homing sequence and the Z Homing actually supposed to work?

I can’t figure out how to set the starting point reliably for a milling job.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
John

You don’t home Z on an MPCNC. You probe with the touch plate.

I’ll point you to the documentation when I’m not on mobile, unless someone else beats me to it.

You asked the same question here Primo MPCNC , Ramps 1.4 and Fusion 360 - #21 by dustmaker and Ryan gave you an answer, please don’t double post.
