Whenever I build a “MAME” cabinet for a customer, I mount the motherboard on a piece of 1/4" ply big enough to hold all of the computer components, ie - Power Supply, Harddrive, Motherboard etc. I use the PCB Standoffs you can get on amazon for like $10 for 100. Most commonly seen used to mount PCB’s to DIY Arcade cabs. Then I make it all able to slide in and out as a whole unit, via some 1x2 blocking in case of the need to update/repair something.
I also agree, ultimarc is the best stuff, and the iPAC is hands down the best encoder on the market!
I realise that my mobo is actually “Micro” which is bigger than “Mini” size (my bad). So that case I suggested is too small. I have however found that mining rig open cases would be a good fit and have all the brackets etc ready to go for PSU and the like. Managed to find one in Australia on eBay for $35 shipped (aud) so have ordered that. Will post pictures once I get it.
Hi there i am building an arcade also. First time ever doing this. I already have the 4 player control panel. Do you happen to have size dimensions for the rest of the cabinet? Like sides and front? Been looking online for blue prints but no luck i am going to be using a 32in lcd and just dont know the portions i need amd size. I am going to use 18mm msf like you saod. Thank you SOO muvh for your time and effort and help!
Hey Spidey. Awesome you are taking on this project. I ended up completing the cabinet so I should really post some completion picks to close off this topic haha!
Yeah I have the dimensions etc. What were you chasing exactly the height and width of the sides? I had the cabinet originally designed by DanielSpies on YouTube. So they are predomantly his designs, however I have modifed them to suit my hardware as I went.
