Forget about How to attach something to top of core - no longer can locate fluidnc wifi

Remember, I am new to this 3D world…

so I did a cross section of the core (or at least that is what I think I did) and thought this was a good idea before I start adding wood screws (or similar) to the top around where the zip-tie slots are. I think I want to mount a drag chain mount on top of the core… is the core really hollow as it appears in the cross section?

the little black things are my best work in crayon simulating the intended screws LMAO.

It that is the case, probably not a good idea to put a screw there as its not looking like much meat to grab onto.
?

So the way i would have approached this is to ask Ryan if he could incorporate your idea for you. Importing a stl should be ok, but he has put little things in there you could be missing.

Message him privately and ask. Most he can say is no. I bet he will not.

I just went to fire up the router and could not connect as I have done via wifi. the board supposed to connect to the wireless router and then I access via ip address. I am at a loss

Try going to http://fluidnc.local

Otherwise, you’d need to go into your router settings and find it.

Did you set up a static IP for it in your router? if not then you will have to go into your router and see what IP address it gave it this time. On my TP Link Decos I can do “address reservation” and I have mine under that (all my printers as well) and that keeps that IP address saved for when the mac address of your ESP32 on the jackpot connects, gives it the same IP every time.

the ip address must have changed when I upgraded my internet speed to 1G the last numbers were different when I looked in the system status. how soon one forgets LOL

Don’t laugh but I built a prototype drag chain mount for my LR4. You can see the 1/2” plywood bracket in the picture hot glued together.
I found a drag chain mount on Printables for the LR4 and cut off the arm for the chain. It has five holes that match the holes on the underside lip at the top of the core as well as slots for the zip tie channel on top of the core and two holes around the area you are thinking about putting screws in. Since I’m just testing to see how it will work I did not put screws in the top two holes just snugged down two zip ties and installed 5 M3 screws on the lower edge on the back of the core. I will probably be able to use the bracket as printed once I have my dust collection dropping from the ceiling. Not sure if any of this will help you but that’s my two cents.

I can post some close up pics if it will help you.

I’m leaning towards the drag chain for wires and an above-the-table dust collection as well. I am looking into 3/4” conduit pipe with a 90* elbow mounted upright in a tube at the far min corner… it would be free to swivel around as the gantry travels…. We shall see if the design works

My entire machine is meant to be stow-able.

Can you share the location of that file?
Please and thank you (if possible)

“Lowrider 4 drag chain” is the name on printables by “ Tigger 09”. I do not yet know how to share a link so hopefully you can just run a search. The mount fit the core perfectly.

got it… thanks. will mess with this a bit and see what I can create from it :stuck_out_tongue:

printing now…

drag chain mount w hose hook

the lower mount with the hose hook

Right on! Looking forward to seeing how what you come up with.

In the cad world, yes it is hollow. In the slicer world, it can be hollow or it can be solid, and anywhere in between.

Cad gives you the shape, the slicer gives you the fill.

that does make sense… now  Thanks for the clarification.

Made this to get above the 2-1/2” dust hose
Look familiar. LOL. It’s a 5” rise… not sure how high you had the wood mockup. I haven’t installed and test yet to see if it works or not. Will do so this afternoon.

@HyeBuilder

That’s a nice looking set up! Please share a link for the cable chain and your bracket/mount. I have been procrastinating my LR4 build and this might encourage me.

Mike

The prototype I made measured 5-1/2" above the top of the core. my drag chain is probably a little larger than the one you are using. That part you modified looks great! I definitely need to spend some time trying to figure out CAD.

I uploaded the file for the tall drag chain mount

Here is the file for the hose hook with the drag link mount

the drag chain I used after ordering and send back the crappy ones I settled on the following (which I put on YouTube with affiliate link)… I am trying to become an amazon affiliate for my other stuff, but to increase odds of qualifying I link everything through that channel… so appologies
