"Finishing" on an engraving tool path?

Does anybody know how Estlcam “finishes” an engraving toolpath? If I use a 10mm bit and set Estlcam to finish using the same bit with a 2mm allowance what happens? I understand how it works if it’s a part or a hole toolpath. Can’t quite figure how it would “finish” an engraving toolpath. Maybe the finish is applied to the depth?

All part/hole/engraving finishing allowances are X/Y offsets (only 2.5 and 3D finishing allowances are Z offsets). I’m guessing that middle of the line engraving doesn’t have an N/A in the Finishing box because engraving paths can be toggled (at any time) using R/L/M keys. The tool depth per pass can be tweaked to provide a shallow final/Z finishing pass, e.g. 4 DOC w/ 2 DPP > 1.75 DPP = .5 final pass.

Oh that makes sense. I forgot that you could choose R/L/M on the engraving path. Thanks!
