I bought a laser module for my mpcnc that works of 12v PWM signal. When I hooked it up to the fan port on my archim board it worked great and had variable control with the manual fan controller on repetier host. After a few seconds of that the variable control stopped working and it was full power all the time even when I turned it off. Now when I plug the board into power the fan pins read 12v and a red light comes on and the board wont connect to repetier host or CNCJS now. I don’t know what I did but I have tried reseting the board and nothing has worked. Will reflashing the firmware fix my problem?
I doubt it. You have probably blown either your laser control board or possibly the archim. If you connected your laser positive and negative wires to your controller boards fan output you have been pulsing your laser control board on and off and not using the PWM function of the laser board.
There will always be +12v on the positive of the fan output as the output FET will pulse the negative lead to deliver PWM output.
Disconnect your laser from the fan output connector and see if your archim will then connect to your computer.
The laser still works it is just getting full power all the time, and its the same with a fan or multimeter. I got the board connected to my computer and everything still works but the fan control.
