Sounds like not enough power in the motor. How much current are you running through your steppers? What is the voltage of the supply and the rated motor voltage?
It is most likely a software setting (wrong math), unless you have never moved the machine before. in that case verify with marlin first.
I asked you because you put settings for ESTLCAM on the first page so i assumed you have tested it for a period of time and i was wondering how you were able to sustain 150mm/sâŚ
Itâs not a pronlem anymore, like i said i reduced it to 90mm/s and everything is woking this way.
I alreday moved the machine with repetier before switching to estlcam and everything was working good but again it means nothing because following your guide the contols are limited to 3600mm/min wich equals 60mm/S. So at 90mm/S i am above your recommending settings for repetier host.
So thatâs why i was wondering how you could get ESTLCAM work at 150mm/s ???

I am runing Nema 17 2A with DRV8825 steppers at 0.71V and a power supply of 12 volts and 20 amps. A really standard and conservative setup.
Matt: Iâm also using 12V power with NEMA17 motors with a resistance of 12.5ohms but only running about 0.5A through each one.I found they heat up too much with 1A. I determined max feedrate by increasing until motor stutter then backing off about 25%. Same settings for Repetier. (I use the same setup for my 3D printer with different settings)
X,Y steps/revolution: 1600
Z steps/revolution: 800
max feed rate x,y: 6000mm/m = 100mm/s
max feed rate z: 300mm/m
Inertia: 70%
Acceleration Distance: 2mm
Start Feed Rate: 60mm/m
Can you get a higher feedrate with Repetier than ESTLCAM? I couldnât.
I found a weird one with Estlcam and Jeffâs base for the MP3DP. When you load the DXF file about half of the objects are reversed. If I load the file into any other viewer they are placed correctly. I tried with 9.018 and 9.046 with the same symptoms.

the base_frame.dxf file uses blocks - this is something Estlcam sometimes messes up, especially if there are blocks within blocks.
If you open it in LibreCAD, select all, click âTools -> modify -> explodeâ, press enter and save again Estlcam will open it correctly.

after adding capacitors to the sensor inputs the false alarms nearly disapeared, so far so good. But if for some reason a endswitch is triggered estlcam shows a message and quits working. The processed part disapears and I have to quit and restart Estlcam. Had anyone else this problem?

-With windows7, estlcam9 everything worked fine.
Where is the best place to report bugs in estlcam? Should we email Christian direct or post here?
I do have an issue with v10.010/10.007 on Win7/Win10 when I lay some text down and select the carve inside -> click ok -> click preview it crashes estlcam. Works fine on Win7 with v9.018.

We are superexciteds with our CNC mill, christ software is making it much easier for us and we are learning how to configure step by step each thing.
Only one thing seems to be out of our understanding. When we try to mill a curved line, we end up with a bunch of straigt lines and the bit stops briefly in each one. The result is good, but it seems that something in the configuration is not ok as we have seen in videos the setup milling curved grooves without stopping.

What should we correct to have it milling smoothly?
P.S: We started with a wooden one but an aluminium one is already on the way as the results have been that great.

if it does not mill smoothly the feedrate is too close to the machines maximum feedrate.
Lower the feedrate for the CNC program and it will work fine.

Estlcam is really great, very convenient to use, even for a beginner like me.
I just have a few questions/suggestions:
-How to do CTRL+Z ? Sounds pretty stupid, I know, but I didnât manage to find how to undo something.
-It would be awesome if we could set different parameters for the first and last pass of each path:
-For the first pass, because our CNC arenât always perfectly leveled, it would be great if we could set a different pass deepness and speed
-For the last pass, being able to edit these parameters could help us to easily get a smooth finish while keeping high speed removing lots of materials during the other passes. I know it is possible to manually set 3 different path with all these caracteristics, but it is quite tedious to do it manually when we could just add 4 parameters in the path setting window, especially when we do parts that have a lot of different paths.
-Would be great to have some basic tools to edit the drawing, like tracing a line, erasing between points, etc. Donât know if this function exists but I didnât find it.
-In the logic of the actual tool path calculation, I found out that when you mill a pocket, no real logic seems to apply about where the tool should start the path. In my opinion, it would be nice that the tool starts wherever the first line will be the shortest. This way the tool load can be reduced. I had this issue while I was milling a pocket and the tool started the pocket right in the middle, where it was the longest, instead of in one of the sides where the pocket was smaller. The first line is always the most difficult because the chips are more difficult to evacuate. Iâm not sure if what Iâm trying to explain is very clear.
I have no idea if those are difficult for you to do or not, so they are just suggestions. Hope they can be useful (and sincerely hope also that you could make them real one day )

hey can your share your estlcam setup with me, because i tried using nema 23 and 17 motor on 20v when i program the ramps 1.4 board on A4988 motor drivers the motors does not move.
I have a problem with Z travel.
In the figure it is possible look the basic config for estlcam but i have the error message when I put 6400 âstep per revolutionâ in Z column.

Have a look at my 3rd post in this thread. By doing this you are no longer using marlin RC7.
I try it, but nothing! The motor stepper get a bad rumor.
So I changed:
- I flashed the MPCNC_RC8
[note: I try to flashing B16_32_8mm-fullG-112515 but when arduino compile return a error�??]
- I start Estlcam, I change the value in âcnc controllerâ and it return the same error âŚfrequencies above 160Khz
In the third post it says to remove some jumpers from under your stepper driver and change the z steps. Did you do both?
Marlin firmware has nothing to do with estlcam firmware. You are asking how to use estlcam firmware.

First off, Estlcam looks amazing. I own Cut2d (before âDesktop and Proâ version) and it was fantastic, but iâm probably going to purchase Estlcam as well.
I am waiting on my custom pcbs i made to get here, I made Pololu breakout boards so i can easily connect external drivers to a grbl shield/ramps 1.4 Should be delivered today. I just want to thank Vicious1 and Christian for their hard work and amazing price points.
