EstlCAM 12 shenanigans

Okay - I’ve been clinging to estlCAM 11 for way too long now. I’m ready to make the plunge…

I was about to DM Phillip, not to bother the forum too much, but then I realized these issues might be experienced by others as well.

Okay - my first question: When I resize a drawing, I only get the length! I know @Tokoloshe helped me with this somewhere, but I can’t find it back. So I ask again, how can I see the height of a drawing when resizing? chatGPT is not helpful at all, it seems like it’s answering about a totally different program.

Who tf is that supposed to be? You are a philosopher, not a filosofer. It’s Philipp. :stuck_out_tongue:

Shenanigans I’m telling you! In Norway we are actually a filosof, not a p-ff-ilosopher :stuck_out_tongue:

It scales the whole drawing at once, I don’t think there is an X/Y independent scaling?

I don’t need scale the directions independently, I miss seeing the height value - sometimes it’s relevant to have both values available…

You mean the grid? Bottom left you can set it.

So you are actually not sticking to the Greek and making your own shit up? :stuck_out_tongue:

Was not thinking grid, but just the dimensions of the said drawing. But the grid can be a solution indeed.

So - do you honestly think that all your greek loan-words are spelled the authentic way??

No.

Middle Mouse button and you can measure.

Those options do not exist, Mrs. Bot.
Or if they do I haven’t found them, could you provide a screenshot please @evierosie ?

Somehow quite similar to the answer I got from chatGPT :sunglasses:
“Just check that box”
“What box?!?”

What even IS a bio engineer?

This definition is from an official US site (though we got to be careful with that information nowadays, with the official White House site saying that the old administration created transgender mice… :joy:): https://www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/biomedical-engineers.htm

Uploading to YouTube is a pain so I’m trying something new: …link removed, see YouTube video below.

Wow! That’s definitively no AI-nonsense! Top tier problem solving, thank you very much

But why the rotation?

If it’s necessary to get a precise reading/declaration of the height?

Oh, because it always only considers X with the size. Got it. I think. :stuck_out_tongue:

YouTube (turn on subtitles) description:
Because v12 replaced the v11 Resize by height field with an ‘Is’ field, drawings (and/or paths) need to be rotated 90 degrees to be able to size them to a specific height. I haven’t figured out what ‘Is’ does or how it might be useful.

An alternative is to do the math:
desired height / current height = scale factor x 100 = Factor% entry
e.g. 200 / 114 = 1.754386 x 100 = 175.4386% for the video.

Hello,

“Is” is the current total width of the selected objects and just for information / verification.

“Target” is the total width of the selected objects after resizing.
“Factor” is the scaling factor.

Adjustments can be made either by entering the desired final width in the target field or by appyling a scaling factor. It automatically adjusts the other field accordingly.

Thinking about it the old way with width and height might have been more intuitive.
Maybe I change it back.

Christian
