E-Stop with Jackpot

I see that FluidNC does not support an estop. Has anyone configured ZMin to work as a hold button?

You can easily make it a pause button, If you want a full estop I suggest wiring into your mains supply to kill the board and router and the same time.

My router doesn’t run of the same input as my power supply. Eventually, but not right now. I’m looking for a pause and resume set up. I see in the firmware how to set the pause and resume. Just not a lot of inputs available to set up additional buttons.

There is a free input port, just for this. If you need more than that you can add 4 more inputs with the module port.

… So, no matter what, you need to do something to make an emergency stop able to shut of both.

  1. A relay. Either conventional or solid state should be able to do it. No power from control board, no power to router.

  2. Central power control. Even a basic power bar could do it. (This is currently my solution.) My emergency stop is a power switch with a big paddle on the “off” position so I can hit it easily, but hopefully won’t accidentally.

I just got my Jackpot and I will be using CNCJS with laptop connected through USB, mainly because my wireless is not so good in the garage and I’ll be using an older laptop that I don’t want to connect to the internet anyway. Will an E Stop shut down the board? Router not connected to board either. And as I understand the stop button need to be wired as NC?

You do not need internet to connect. The fact that you do not get good connection is the garage is actually a good thing. The jackpot makes its own hotspot, and you connect directly to it! Very strong connection if you are with in line of site or only have a wall or two between you. No internet needed.

This thread is about an emergency stop, normally that is connected to mains power not the jackpot.

While I can connect to my wifi with the Jackpot and I use it to transfer files, I use the local AP to run the machine. Don’t have to worry about the network being wierd since the router is in my shop which is two concrete walls away from the closest WAP.

For the e-stop, mine kills power to everything except the router. My power supply is cut which cuts everything else. I still need to wire in a relay for the router.

So power in to e stop then from e stop button to board? Sorry I’m electronics ignorant really.

Think of it this way. Plug everything into a power strip with an on off switch. When things go wrong, flip the switch you want everything off. M.Moore you need to start your own thread if you have more questions this is a different issue.

If you want a specific example, I use this Rockler safety power tool switch.

If I hit that stop button, my router and lowrider are completely off immediately.

I personally thought this was better than trying to do an e stop that relied on the electronics, and then having a different way to get the router to shut off.
