Well… I messed up…

And got them perfect the first time! ZERO BUBBLES! Perfect placement, where the bolts for the monitor go through the letters instead of the characters, and I am honestly blown away. The artwork of this game is incredible. Through and through.

What? Why are you still here? Can I help you with something?

Oh… Right, you wanna see photos don’t you? sigh FINE!

Here…

And here

Next, is electronics, and I think I might wait til the weekend to begin those because 1, the monitor is heavy and I could probably use my wife’s help to start bolts as I’m struggling to hold it up. And 2, because I’m tired. LOL

Again, thank y’all so much for following along. And if anyone EVER tells you, you can’t do alot with a home-built CNC machine, point them to this thread, and so many others on here as well

I probably won’t detail the electronics as in depth as I did the build, but I’ll give ya all $0.50 when I’m done and y’all can come play it first hand :stuck_out_tongue:

That looks amazing. It is a very professional look.

I hate to say this, but I kinda wish you would. I’m curious to see what all goes into one of these machines. I could probably google and find someone else’s build, but that wouldn’t be the same

@jeffeb3 THANK YOU!!!

@niget2002 Ok Sure! I’ll definitely do that!

Ok so I did a few more small things, and one giant thing. Got the monitor stabbed. Whew. Hard to do by yourself, but luckily no one was injured in this process…

Not the right bezel, but I do have another one at my shop that’s deeper. And I should probably feed the cats.

Overlook my mess lol this thing was a warzone in the making.

ALOT of cuss words rang through the air, and could be heard from miles around…

More of the same…

Not sure why I took so many of this angle. I’m guessing my thumb got happy and snapped a bunch.

And here she is, with the monitor installed, the bezel, the smoked glass, and the control panel back on. NOW we move on to the PCB and wiring, but not today. I’m beat. And I’ve got a few double shifts to work this week. Yay me.

On a side note, have you ever noticed how everything in the air will stick right to your freshly installed glass? Jeez…

More to come!

Well… My main PCB is messed up. Gonna have to send it off for repairs Monday. YAY me! So this project is paused until I get the board back, unless I throw a temporary computer in there. Haven’t made my mind up on that just yet.

To Be Continued…

I just chucked a computer in it over the weekend for now. Emulation, I hate that more than nails on a chalkboard, but I was ready to play Dragon’s Lair after all this work!!!

I can get around not having a working laser disc player, but can’t get around not having a working PCB. Which is exactly where I’m at. So, while I ship off my PCB later today after work, I’ll run a PC until it comes back.

I’ll document that stage of it, the mainboard, and laserdisc player mod. blah.

PS: I’m not accepting any comments on the toilet paper & paper towel toppers my wife installed. I had to make a compromise to get my machines in this room lmao

You could always put a cabinet above the two machines to put the paper products in. Then you’d be able to shut the doors and not see it.

Make the faces look like stacked cases of MtnDew. Would blend in with the arcade theme.

LOL THIS. hahahaha

As a self proclaimed member of the Mt. Dew appreciation group, I approve this message.

This is the story of my life tho. Make tons of progress, end up way ahead of schedule, put the final piece on, discover it doesn’t work. Those few days ahead of schedule, turn quickly into 2 weeks behind schedule.

My life is a ‘hurry up and wait’ scenario hahaha

But on a side note, this weekend I’ll upgrade my LR2 with thicker Y Plates and new wiring, and much neater components like new LCD mount, new electronics mount, etc. So I’m pretty stoked about that, especially the part about getting rid of that flex I’ve got going on in the MDF Y Plates.

Cute, an old CRT, not many around here would know how to not kill themselves with one of those.

Excellent job. Makes me consider rescuing an old floor standing arcade machine sitting at Cash Crusaders that needs a new casing…but then… nah, not this year. You put so much effort into your build, I think I am suffering from lazinitus at the moment. Also in the hurry up and wait mode for 1,000 LEDs from China. First component for the pinball table almost ready, version 6 of a pop bumper.

Looking forward to seeing it take up place of pride when finished. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!!! I suffered the Lazinitus for about a year HAHA. I built 2 already and sold them both to people that wanted them way more than I did at the time. Finally got started on 1 of 2 of my own personal ones last month.

CRT’s can fatally ruin your day for sure. I discharge, and discharge, and discharge (sounds like I need medical attention when I say it like that) again and again before I even touch the frame. Better to be safe than sorry with those things.

I always try to rescue them when I can, room is an issue at the moment. And my shop is getting full of empty cabs that at the time I thought were worthy of saving, sadly the more I look at them, the more I think it would be easier to convert them to CAD and just cut new ones. My upcoming Centipede Cabaret, will be a fresh cut cab too. Original is mush for the most part. I’m not sure the MDF was intended to have a 40 year life span. Funny story, I brought it home, and every time I moved it, it would leave sawdust on the floor. My wife quickly told me to remove it from the apartment, until it stopped ‘shedding all over the place’. So yea, gonna just cut a new one

I LOVE your pins, huge fan! I am stoked so see your build when you get your parts in!!!

Hmmm, I have a 34" CRT in my storage unit that is designed as a computer monitor for meeting rooms… It supports 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 resolutions (although the last might have to be interlaced). If anyone wants it for their own ultimate arcade cabinet design let me know… You will have to pick it up in Oregon and believe me when I say you will need two people to carry it.

Does it have a flat front screen? The glass on those was 3x thicker to deal with the pressure.

Whoa! a 34" CRT!! That would be amazing in like a showcase style cab or something along those lines!!!

I wish I were closer, but I’m on the other end of the country sadly!

Any one near Oregon needing a CRT?!

I haven’t been down to the storage unit for a while, but I remember it having a curved face on the front…

Board shipped off for repairs. So in the meantime, I just ordered new control panel art and marquee for the ms pacman now that she’s looking all dated next to a brand new cab haha

This never ends does it?

While I’ve got the control panel off just gonna go ahead, sand, prime & paint it and refurbish the joystick. Ol’ girl is getting kinda loose in her old age  :joy:
