My printer is printing too long on the y axis and too short on the X axis. My circles are coming out as ellipses.
What should I be checking?
Thanks for the help.

How far off are they exactly, that will point us straight to the problem.
I’m using a ramps 1.4 board with drv8255 drivers.
I printed a 20mm calibration cube. Z and Y are within ± 0.07mm, with is great. X was short by almost 0.5mm. I printed in PETG with carbon fiber (this stuff is amazing by the way).
X 19.53mm
Y 19.93mm
Z 20.07mm
When I printed a circle it was much worse. The widest point was 25.64mm and the smallest 23.91mm. It was supposed to have a diameter of 25.0mm
Here are pics of the calibration cube and the circle.
How fast are you printing, how long it your Z axis, how far off is the circle, big or small? A picture of your setup will really help here.
Do realize the nature of 3D printing plastic shrinks as it cools, so a circle is always the worst (think tightening belt). Of the common materials PLA typically shrinks the least, then PETG, then ABS is basically a shrinky dink (do not use ABS).
You should do all testing with PLA and a larger test object will really show more information. Like if a 20mm cube is off by 0.2mm and a 100mm cube is off by either 0.2 or 1mm, tells 2 different stories. Personally I will do a 20mm to make sure everything is close, than only worry about 100mm and above for real adjustments. It gives you 5x the resolution.
Once you get PLA dialed in, you can figure out some sort of scaling with other materials if you really need to be that precise.
I’ll take a pic of my setup. It’s 3 feet in the X and 4 feet in the Y. Probably can’t expect great accuracy at that size. I’ll try a print with PLA. Here is a pic of the cube and the circle. I’m just puzzled why the circle is so much worse than the cube.
How much worse, how fast are you printing, how long is the z. Those are the three most important of those questions.
I was printing at 30mm/s.
The cube was off by 0.45mm on 20mm.
The circle was off by 1.09mm on 25mm.
I keep posting pics but they aren't making it [attachment file=66070]
through. Also I can access this site on my phone, but on all browsers on my laptop the site won’t load. Other sites do. Not sure if anyone else noticed this happening.

The pictures load slowly right now so sort of Cache timing error.
You can’t measure a 3 layer tall circle. get it at least 1" tall to make sure all your first layer errors are gone.
AS for not loading on your laptop that isn’t right. I am not sure, I just checked another computer, private browser and a phone and they all seemed to work. Is it just a specific page or the entire site?
It’s loading in chrome now. It seemed hit and miss over the last day or so. Not sure if the problem was on your end or mine.
Probably mine, Major update to wordpress and that trickles down to all the plugins over the course of a few days.
This may have had something to do with why I wasn’t getting round circles. ? The roller split in two and was rubbing on the tube. Time to reprint all the parts properly. I printed them too fast the first time and they have no strength.
It’s amazing the thing printed at all.
Yikes
