The phone app maker I mentioned above is based on scratch that @Jeffeb3 suggested. my son learned scratch and he and I had a “contest” to code a game with scratch in 20 minutes. We were able to both crank something out. For starting in coding, scratch is great.
I like those videos a lot. They start super simple (and depend on the scratch functions like “if touching a color”). Then they say, we can do better, and explain how and why it is better. It really builds fast. But tricks you into even doing math.
Hi, it’s been a long time since I posted.
Destiny has been relentlessly attacking my daughter’s life and health for a year and I have not yet regained all my motivation to do much of anything(except 3 self made door locks i should post about shortly).
I came across this site which sells ready-to-use vectorized projects at a fair price. It’s more laser oriented but it can also be done for CNC with a small diameter milling cutter.
A few euros might help out when you’re in an emergency…
I can’t imagine what you are going through. Worrying and caring for kids is the most exhausting and important thing in a parents life. I hope you’ll have time for your own projects in the future. All the best for you and your daughter.
That is unimaginable. Take care of yourself, try to take a minute or two each day for a mental health break to stay sharp and ready.
So sorry to hear that. Like @vicious1 said don’t be afraid to push things off to get some mental health back. When my son was born we were in and out of a hospital for half a year, then thankfully got on the path of healing. I still have trauma from it even though it been over a year ago now. Thoughts and prayers for you, for what they are worth.
Just found this website, it has cnc joints you can download. DXF files. I just downloaded and scanned for virus, looks good. browsing through them now!
Cool stuff here: Free designs – Aribabox (non free stuff is also cool!)
Makes me wish Baltic Birch was less expensive!
There are some really good ones, thanks.
So i recently found a place here that sells import birch (that is what they call it). 1\2 4x8 is 39 bucks and not 70 or 80 bucks everyone else is charging. You may be able to find it near you as well. It was someone else here that put me on to it. Oh i think jonathan. He is buying from a cabinet shop near him.
Ooh. I’ll check my local place, Crosscut Hardwoods in Seattle. Haven’t been lately since they closed on the weekends
Curious if I can find a cabinet shop that sells to the public. Gotta finish my LR2-3 upgrade first though!
Glad you were able to find some. And at real close to the same price!
There’s already a link to the opendesk free licensed designs on GitHub, but this one also includes that and aptek, atfab, p9, and a couple misc designs.
There’s a few free templates but really the neat thing is their free account lets you use an online design tool which is quite good - especially for making single line text! And it exports as DXF
Found this one while trying to find something to convert CDRs to DXF - which I’m still looking for btw if anyone has something they recommend
Affinity might be able to do that. If you send me a CDR file I will try. ![]()
Wow! Relly nice models out there… I wouldn’t mind paying 3-5$ for one
That is a cool link. This is the one that stuck out to me on the site:

I wonder if the first crown drawing might need a couple more options. Not because anything is wrong with the one we draw, but just because…
