I was planning on attaching it to one of my Ender-3’s for now but the more I read about the extruder the more I’m realizing that a moving bed will cause warpage when printing clay. So I’m considering using my MPCNC to print clay with the Cerambot pro nozzle.
Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with using a Cerambot pro nozzle or printing clay with a MPCNC or Ender-3.
Also, I am kind of stumped how to run the system as well, because the designer designed the system to use a ramps 1.4 board to control the printer.
I am running a Mini Rambo for the MPCNC and a Creality 32bit silent board (4.7.1) on my Ender-3
There have been a few people printing clay on the MPCNC, should be some pictures in the old gallery linked from the homepage. It does seem like this gantry would be better suited than an FDM printer, but I have not seen the cerambot first hand to have a sense of heft.
I would assume the plunger just uses extruder code, so any board should be easily suited for it. The ramps does have 5 drivers, so maybe they have used two extra drivers? If that is the case the mini only has 4 drivers. https://www.cerambot.com/how-to-convert-a-fdm-3d-printer-to-a-clay-3d-printer/ well it looks like “mixing extruder” so I believe that means it needs two extruder drivers. So any 5+ driver board should work.
My mistake, I meant to put just Rambo. Also, thanks for your input Ryan and Jeffeb. I’m kind of a novice when it comes to coding and know the in’s and out’s of a mainboard.
I will be modeling a new tool holder for the Cerambot Pro for people to download, so that more people can get into the world of ceramic 3D Printing with the MPCNC.
