Store seem to be out and I get the impression that no more are coming. Does anyone else have these or sell them? I mean I defiantly will upgrade to the V4 but as most of the post I have read in here they say go ahead and make the V3 well I want to and I have most everything I need sourced except the metal plates.
This is a question for @Ryan
You can just print the plates if you think about upgrading anyway. They are plenty strong on the LR 3.
Whoops
yeah this seem to be the consensus
I totally forgot I made a crazy good set of printed plates. MEtal plates are not needed at all.
Sorry I started shipping metal plates because in bulk they were cheaper and made the set fit in a smaller box, but the printed ones are super legit and actually make the leadscrews line up real nice first try.
I have a Neptune 3 Max Running Klipper so this is prolly doable. How much filament so you run thru do do a printed parts kit? I just ask as I’m about to order some.
For a full kit two rolls should be plenty
Even if printing all of the side plates?
I am fairly certain but three to be safe seems like a good option.
Its been a while but I seem to remember 2.2kg for all the parts for a full sheet not including the XZ plates. So probably best to get 3 rolls if you want to keep it all a certain color
Is print both sets of plates and option? I think that is the way I will have to go. anyway I have 4 rolls on the way.
Absolutely, if your printer is big enough, I think that is listed in the instructions at the bottom of the printed parts list.
I printed both sets of my plates.
My printer was not big enough, so I printed split YZ plates and used epoxy to join them back together.
My first CNC job after cutting my strut plates was to cut my YZ plates out of 1/2" MDF.
The next time I had to disassemble my machine, I replaced them with the MDF ones I cut.
If I hadn’t disassembled them, I would have ran with the plastic ones until they caused me a problem. I just wanted to make sure I had backups
Thanks Luckily I have a really big Neptune 3 Max so the plate easily fit in my volume. It often just sits idle as most things will fit on my Neptune 3 pro. Filament should be here tomorrow so I may give one of these ago.
Do you remember how many walls you ran? I’m thinking about 7-8 will be good
As far as I know, just stick to the recommended number (3 with a 0.6 nozzle I think). The parts are designed to not have too many walls.
For the beta, my printed LR3 XZ plates were I think 2 wall, and 70% infill. If I were to do them again, I’d go 3 wall, and maybe 60% infill, but had no problems.
While there is nothing at all wrong with the printed plates… I just came across my old set of LR3 aluminum plates that are no longer in use. If you would rather have those and live somewhere that its reasonable to ship to, you can have them for the cost of shipping. I should also have a set of 1/2" acrylic YZ plates laying around here as well I can send (If the boss didn’t throw them away already )
Edit: Not seeing the Acrylic… But Boss lady is sleeping in this morning so cant ask her yet lol. About to fix that with an impact and a bunch of screws (not to her! Building a work bench!)
