10 Years of V1!

Looks a little lopsided

Yup I got lost in the layers and the fractal patterns is too detailed so the order of operations makes it look funky.

One of these days I will get my Zen table finally put together and be able to make cool stuff like that!

That fills me with joy.

Bumping this thread since I almost forgot about it.

Another way to go with a 10th anniversary is to do things extremely small. 10x smaller, at least. That might also make a statement, but not need a huge commitment. Maybe something that is only 10mm wide?

This is a bit early, but I’m probably not going to be able to post it on the 15th and it’s not quite ready to be built, so consider it a spoiler with the best of intention.

Conceptually it’s five parts, each one machined two sides, which by my maths gives a total of 10 operations, which seems fitting.

.
I designed it many years ago, to hold itself together like a Japanese wood puzzle and have built one for each of my grandchildren. Since it’s meant to be built using hand tools, there are a few quirks that make it a bit challenging for conversion to CNC construction, but in the true V1 spirit, my mate @Tokoloshe from the other side of the world, and I will persevere and get it sorted in due course. (Just not before 15th March).

Currently the model works with one input (timber thickness) using wood from 12mm to 30mm thick. We just can’t agree on a way to cut it that will be easy for all! "

I hope this means you will share the files when you’re done.

Congrats on 10 years! Looking forward to many more years to come.

Here’s the SVG file I created. I resized in Estlcam to 100mm. Made on my LR3 with a 1/16" endmill, 45 degree V-bit, and a 1/8" endmill in 1/2 inch plywood.

Since I am 8 hours ahead of you, it’s the 15th in a few minutes. Since you are behind, I still have more than a day to finish my project… :stuck_out_tongue:

I have not been doing anything exciting. I have been tying to find a decent 3PL for a while. Low volume makes things tough.

I wish I was out making something fun to commemorate this but I have been doing desk work for a while now.

You have 11 more months yet to celebrate.

Happy Anniversary! Thank you @vicious1 for the time and energy you put into V1 Engineering projects, and supporting the community.

So many community projects! (these are just LowRider, keep reading to see MPCNC projects)

Am working on a way to download forum gallery content that can then be viewed on tablet(s) at RMRRF (and other events). So, no Wifi required, super fast rendering… Maximizes available browser space. Includes filtering so we can pull up projects based on chats we’re having with Attendees learning about what projects would be exciting to them. QR codes link to forum Topics.

Extra wide screen render… (many many columns, where as existing just has 3)

Cheers!

Congratulations, Ryan.

10 Years of awesome machines and a great community alongside them.

That’s quite an accomplishment.

That is rad, I gotta social post that one!

Thanks everyone. I would not be here if it was not for you all. If I just had to deal with sourcing, inventory, shipping I would have left a long time ago. I do it 99% because of the interactions with like-minded creative people with lots of motivation, that 1% pays the bills so you gotta do it.

That one’s just LR gallery. Will gen and share MPCNC mosaic, since that’s where it all started…

@RockinRiley’s earlier post inspired me to look into video montage, but I ended up with a more interactive mosaic/gallery, thanks Riley!
